Nebraska's revised QB room

QBs because of their stature always get attention from fans and media. I do think that this upcoming season our QBs will be asked to (1) not make mistakes, (2) efficiently run the offense and (3) get the ball to your playmakers behind a revamped and better offensive line.

I just hope that the QB battle doesn't fracture the team. Lateef the returning letterman, Colandrea the seasoned starter and Kaelin the local Nebraskan with more game experience than many want to acknowledge ... each arguably have a case to become the starter. Will more than one get snaps? Will more of a run-centric gameplan require multiple guys to play?

Will more playmakers step up? Nelson, Bonner, Mozee, Ives, Clark, Mills and others take a step up in production?

Three deep with guys who could realistically start conference games. I’ll take it.

It would be a great story if Kaelin became the starter and hit his ceiling. Local kid weathers the Raiola drama, comes back and then turns into The Man. Maybe they square off in 2 years vs Oregon for maximum drama.

I like the room.

Also think Colandrea is the type of player who will both excite Husker fans and make them scratch their noggins from time to time, but he is electric and he will keep Nebraska in a few games we might not normally be in just because of his versatility and mobility. Dude appears to be a gamer, and this coming from someone who was a bit skeptical Rhule went this route.

As for fractures in the room, if TJ doesn't win the job and takes the mindset he can still take a RS year, Nebraska should be okay because Danny is a glue-type teammate.

These are my opinions and I know about 1/10th anything Jeremy does, so take all for what it's worth.

Que @Turd Ferguson for an appropriate gif.

Colandra's 10 TD's on the ground last year may also be a preview of an important way of improving DONU's problems in the Red Zone and on 4th down.

Adding the threat of a truly mobile QB (all three of ours now are) in the Red Zone and on 4th down places tremendous pressure on a defense which we did not have last year with Dylan.

I look forward to the utilization of this threat in multiple ways to increase scoring and short yardage conversions in our offense in 2026 despite whichever number is on the back of our QB1.

GBR

Great writeup @N2FL. Assuming we weren't landing a big fish, Colandera was always my preferred option, definitely over Minchey so I was not upset to lose that one. I hate the way that it happened but ultimately I think we won a better prize and it gives Lateef another year to grow. I also think Colandrea will give our offense a chance to open up a lot and look more like what we're accustomed to seeing from a Holgorsen-led group. I think we saw enough from Lateef to be comfortable with a room of him and Kaelin behind Colandrea too given another full offseason of development.

Welcomed back former Husker Dylan Raiola. Next year. Just like Kaelin.

You never know ............................
Zero chance. The bridge was blown up and left in destruction. Kaelin left because of lack of opportunity. Good terms, no on can fault him for that. DR left because he wanted even more money, got extremely greedy, and he didn’t want to compete, wanted guarantees of starting. NU is better off without that cancer. Trust me, teammates see as much. Oops, sorry, I missed that block, lol. Guarantee that happens all over the country.

I would rather have Tanner Vivabul return to the team.
