"Nebraska's Cecelia Ossi won the NCAA smallbore title, highlighting a strong performance from the No. 7 Nebraska rifle team at the 2023 NCAA Championships on Friday at the James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio."

She and her team, deserves a post on this forum.

"Ossi is the first Husker to win a NCAA Championship since Rachel Martin accomplished the feat in 2015 in the smallbore and Nebraska's fourth individual NCAA Champion. NU's other individual national champions are Kristina Fehlings (air rifle, 2006), and Nicole Allaire (smallbore, 2000). "

Sophomore Emma Rhode earned a first-place finish with an aggregate score of 1,186, while sophomore Tori Watts(1,185) and senior Cecelia Ossi (1,183) completed the sweep, finishing second and third, respectively. "In yet another record-breaking match, the No. 6 Nebraska rifle team shot program highs in the aggregate and smallbore to finish first in a three-team match on Saturday in West Point, N.Y. The Huskers defeated No. 3 Kentucky, 4,749-4,747, and No. 14 Army, 4,749-4,685.

The team’s aggregate score of 4,749 and smallbore score of 2,364 broke previous school records of 4,734 and 2,360, both previously set against UAB on Oct. 11.

“I’m extremely proud of how our team competed today,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “Coming into the weekend, we challenged them to take the line fearlessly and confidently focused on running their processes to the best of their ability and they did just that while on the line against a couple of very talented teams today. It’s been great to watch this team continue to climb having set program records each time out this season. Huge congrats to Emma on shooting the programs first perfect score in air rifle as well! While today was a record setting day for the program, tomorrow remains the true test for us to go out and perform on the same level we did today.”

The Big Red grabbed two of the top five spots overall. Senior Emma Rhode finished in first place with a score of 1,194. Her score breaks her own previous individual aggregate record of 1,193, set on Jan. 18, 2025. Freshman Carley Seabrooke placed fifth with a score of 1,186.

In the air rifle, Nebraska grabbed two of the top five spots. Rhode placed first, shooting the first ever perfect score of 600 in school history. Sullivan followed in second place with a mark of 597. Seabrooke (seventh, 595), Corbett (11th, 593), Moyer (12th, 592), Camilla Johannessen (14th, 590), Hannah Gallagher (16th, 590), and Charlie Mick (18th, 589) finished out the lineup in the air rifle.

NU took three of the top five spots in the smallbore on its way to shooting the program high score of 2,364. Rhode took second place with a mark of 594, followed by Seabrooke in third with her score of 591. Alivia Perkins placed fifth, shooting a 591. Katlyn Sullivan (seventh, 588), Maddy Moyer (14th, 578) and Grace Corbett (19th, 566) rounded out the smallbore lineup for the Huskers.

"The Nebraska rifle team jumped up to first place in the latest College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, jumping past now No. 4 TCU.

NU posted scores of 4,747 and 4,742 over the weekend, taking down then-No. 1 TCU and Schreiner. The Huskers have been rewriting the record books all season, as these scores were good for the second and third-highest team aggregate scores in school history respectively.

Rankings are updated each week and determined by the previous week’s score. The Big Red’s score of 4,747 is currently tied with Kentucky, but Nebraska holds the tiebreaker, as the Huskers’ score includes 353 x-counts compared to the Wildcats’ 340."
