Nebraska vs Texas Rio Grande Valley

I kept finding myself thinking Worster was never interested in passing, just some dribble-drives (and not in the most direct way). But, then he'd make the shot he was working toward. I'm not sure if that will work against better teams? I'd like to see him more involved in the team passing approach.

My first time being able to see all the new players....

We have a way to go, hopefully we can get ride of the sloppiness. It will be interesting season

Worster is a player. There are some solid pieces on this team. We are going to need BW to be a star though.

Our defense looks even less athletic than last year. Hoiberg needs to change how we defend. With the size we have and the athletic deficiencies we have on the perimeter defensively, we can’t continue to double all post entries. Well you can I suppose, you just are going to be a 14 win team.

We will absolutely get cooked if we don’t change our defensive philosophy. The don’t want to overreact to one game, but it’s rather evident in my opinion.
Wasn't impressed with the two new big men that started. Meah has no game whatsoever and the guy with long name wasn't impressive either. Not a lot of athleticism in this team. I don't think this team accomplishes much. Hope I am dead wrong!

The same UTRGV squad took Creighton to the last two minutes and their All American Center Kalkbrenner to have to score 49 points. Nebraska has a lot work to do still but UTRGV is a really funky team who is going to shoot three pointer after three pointer regardless of score or opponent. Our inside players are not the best and Meah especially is a rim protector and rebounder he was really going to look out of place against a team with no desire to go inside and with all the long rebounds.

It's so weird playing against a team that has no hesitation to just chuck stuff up, and has good shooters who can get hot. There was a program back in the 80s called Paul Quinn College, who had a coach who was an actual undertaker and funeral home director. Good article in Sports Illustrated on them. They wheeled him out in a coffin to start the game playing church music, then would bust out into some Motown. They were insane, but so fun. Without a 3 point line they averaged 101 points a game. I don't think they ever took a shot in the lane, and if they did, it was a breakaway dunk. The entire roster was out of Houston, 6'5" or 6'6" and about 185. Zero hesitation to shoot, and they shot from DEEP. The game I saw them they had guys get called 3 times for standing out of bounds when their shots went up from the wing.

If you aren't used to that, it's a hard thing to play against. And god forbid they are hot, because opponents will panic and try to play that style with them, and usually get run off the court. I'm impressed our defense against UTRVG was able to force enough errant shots to let us pull away. Teams like that are a crap shoot, especially with a team that is pretty new and trying to gain an identity.
