Nebraska vs Maryland Game Thread (10/3/26)

I missed the whole first qtr. (probably saved me a bunch of anxiety). I started just after the second qtr. started and after seeing Maryland's 1st QTR. stats, I was shaking my head, but from the 2nd qtr. on, we looked like I expected us to look. This was a nice, hard fought come from behind Win for our Huskers. GO BIG RED!!!

Forget the point spread and just think of the mental component. They didn't panic. They didn't act desperate. (Minus that idiotic onside kick call... WTH was that???) It felt like they knew they were going to win despite all the bull crap.
I don't believe that was a called on side kick, I believe it was supposed to be a pooch kick. They had the long return and after that we decided not to kick to them so tried a pooch but it was done very poorly. I think that because the kick after that was a better pooch kick they fair caught around the 30.

So I think it was poor execution rather then poor play call. But I would question the early kick offs. Were we trying to make them return the kicks or was the wind bothering them and they couldn't get it to the end zone. We've had no problem putting them into the end zone so far this year, so I wasn't sure if the wind was that bad, or they wanted them to return kicks and was done on purpose. I noticed our last kick managed to go to the end zone.

Yeah a lot of people talk about having a better second half, I felt we had a better three quarters, it was just the first quarter that was bad. After being down double digits we came back and took the lead in the second quarter.

Question for those that attended the game. A few days ago, the Maryland head coach essentially called out the Husker crowd for not being that loud. Did Memorial Stadium crowd rise to that challenge?
