I know that you played high level basketball and I respect your opinion and am hoping your correct, but am worried this is more of a trend in the last so many games. I see teams pressuring NU farther out and not afraid of getting beat off the dribble. Lawrence has been very questionable dribbling in traffic as is most of the team sans Sam. Ball movement seems much less than earlier in the season. They did miss some open shots that they have been making mostly this season but nothing offensively is easy for them against teams that play a little defense.Gentlemen, have a little calm. One team won at the Pavilion this year. No B1G team swept the coast. If we hit half of the open looks we clanked, it’s a nail biter until the end. Did I see airballs from 4 different players? Both free throws missed by one of our most consistent shooters? Several turnovers by throwing to where a player expected a teammate to be? It wasn’t one thing, it was a game a good team will put behind them.
Fred probably won’t spend much time on tonight’s film. He will show just how the Hawkeyes made us look bad in Iowa City. That, senior day, and a crowd that despises black and gold, will give us a win. Don’t dwell on the coldest, least coordinated game of the year.
I know NU wasn’t favored to win and UCLA has been tough at home but I’ve watched every game this season including exhibition games and I’m worried they already peaked when other teams are playing their best basketball. I could see NU not winning another game this year pretty easily unless they start playing with some urgency from the tip. Hope I’m wrong.
