Nebraska opting out of Oklahoma game? UPDATE: Moos makes statement that they explored other options but are looking forward to playing OU

I hope this isn't true. They only way I could understand this would be if the B1G is trying to stop non-conference away games. I sure hope NU isn't pushing this.

I am sure the reason that will be made public is that they need another home game to help with the budget after COVID. What the real reason is... I am sure we all have our suspicions.

If this is true, and we have no idea if it is, I have to believe they took a look at the financials and saw they have to have another home game in 2021 or else things will be really bad. That's the only reasonable explanation for doing this.

Ugh ... this is not going to end well. I got some 80 something y/o neighbors from Oklahoma planning to make that game ... not looking forward to that conversation during a weekend walk :(

If you look at the positive the Huskers could bring in some pathetic team and get an additional needed W! By week 9 or 10 I'm sure as fans we'd all forget who the Huskers beat and just look at the record.

While I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, IF this is true, it most certainly has everything to do with finances. They have to get as many home games as possible next year (with fans).

I think the point is that it contradicts a lot of the messaging that has come from the staff and admin. Plus it’s humiliating for the fans and we will get torched by the media.

If this is true of course.

Hoping there is some degree of B1G politicking happening behind the scenes. Otherwise, this will look like Nebraska just decided to cancel a game in fear of playing a good team.

We've been trying to get rid of the "sore loser" perception since we joined the Big Ten. Over the last 10+ years we've basically just collapsed against good teams and the media takes a shot whenever we run away from competition.
