Nebraska @ Michigan State Game Thread (9/26/26)

I saw what I wanted to see. I wanted to see the Huskers stressed, to see them face some adversity, to see how they reacted when players went down, to see how they'd respond when things got dicey.

GBR, they checked every box for me, and then some.
I don't know about the "and then some" part, but I can see definite progress. The schedule so far is setting up perfectly for a team trying to build confidence and a winning mindset.

One week at a time, of course, but I can't help looking 2 weeks ahead. Hope the team is focusing on eliminating errors and playing much better against the Terps.

I liked how we responded to the constant blitzing. AC moved well in the pocket, we gave up no sacks, and DH dialed up the right plays to make MSU pay for blitzing.

Not a pretty game at all, but a pretty convincing win on the road against a B1G foe.

6 sacks, 10 TFLs, 3 TOs qualify as "and then some" in my book.

I would also add that NU did as well or better against MSU as ND, and ND had 'em at home. Some of the worlds greatest fans need to learn how to enjoy winning again.

The "ranked" 2016 Oregon team finished 4-8 if I remember correctly. They has a young QB named Justin Herbert who wasn't starting yet when they played NU.

[B,]And yes, Oregon going 1-5 on two point conversions in that game was a big factor.[/B]
They may have faired better if our defense hadnt been on the field. They went for two a lot. It must have been a successful strategy, except against us. We should get some credit

When I saw a pre game MSU homer podcast, where they came to the conclusion our D line wasnt that good because we had so many DBs making tackles....they never looked to see our huge rotation first 3 games at D line, maybe thee MSU coaches were just as short sighted.

Our defensive line shows good promise and are getting better each week. I think the LBs are playing better against the run as well. The real test will be in October and November, but I think our defensive line is much better than last year’s based on a snapshot of 4 games under our belt.
