I’m guilty - I picked MSU, thought we’d see the same old same old. No complaints from me - this team has made significant progress. Rhule deserves a lot of credit for building this team up.

That 7-0 team finished 2-4 and got absolutely curb stomped by OhSU, Iowa, and Tennessee. We were 7-0 and ranked #10, but the Gameday guys laughed at us because they knew we were a paper tiger. It's true that we haven't had a better team in the 9 years since (until this year???) but that's not a compliment to that team.

Oh, and the only reason we beat ranked UO was because they kept going for 2 and missing.

Not to get off topic. I think this team has potential. A lot of work to do, but a lot of potential.

Our D line showed some weaknesses, most notably when MSU was running tempo and we couldn't sub out. Credit to Fitz for exploiting that. But hopefully, now that we've seen a B1G team on the field, we can get some stuff straightened out.

The fact that we beat them in their house, worse than ND did in South Bend, is something we can hang our hat on. And build from there.

Next week against the Terps can now be an unexpected "get right" game (provided the coaches keep their heads on right). Just what we need going into the following week. Not that I'm looking ahead or anything...

But our downfall so far has been getting out to a "comfortable" lead and then taking our foot off the gas. Can we handle the threat of success?

The "ranked" 2016 Oregon team finished 4-8 if I remember correctly. They has a young QB named Justin Herbert who wasn't starting yet when they played NU.

And yes, Oregon going 1-5 on two point conversions in that game was a big factor.
