NEBRASKA @CREIGHTON . 7PM - Fri - 11/23/24

I was at the game. Creighton fans measure up to every stereotype imaginable. It’s almost an SNL skit until you realize they are serious.

Nebraska did what I thought they would do on defense. They gave up open looks but they bullied Kalkbrenner. Kid is 10-ply Charmin soft, he’s not scary if you have a few posts who are physical. Had Creighton hit more threes, it may have been different. They didn’t though. It’s amazing how many games this year Kalkbrenner will dominate because nobody shoves him around. The second someone does, he turns into a total marshmallow.

Meah may not be a scorer at all but that size and some rebounds plus some physicality inside makes a big difference

CU fans don’t bother me until they play NU. They were absolutely stunned tonight though. I expected a chippy crowd but didn’t see it. My CU friends say NU fans are the biggest a holes but I saw none of that—from either side tonight.

They always have been like that. I cannot stand CU fans. Arrogant for no reason and only show up to games to be seen. I'm ok if they never win another game.

I moved back to Nebraska 3 years ago, and I hate to say this, but the from my observations, NU basketball fans can be just as much tools as CU fans and in a few cases even moreso. This is just my experience and I was truly shocked by the number of NU tools though. I guess I expected the opposite. Fans are fans and if you are looking for stereotypes, you'll surely find them. CU has had a good run, and Jays fans have had a lot more to gloat about, but NU was clearly the better team last night and may be better overall. The Huskers have raised the bar with this game, but I expect CU to take a step back this year. They'll likely lose 3 or 4 out of their next 5. We'll see how it plays out but the Huskers will want to get the most out of this win resume' wise.

I don't know about no reason, they have records and tournament success we'd kill for. They have a lot of pride in what is their top sport, which isn't that surprising. They are also Omaha, so they tend to be more city and lack the rural humility we are more used to in Nebraska sports settings.

St. Mary's is a really good program. They have been in the tournament 2012, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024, and some of those were as a higher seed. This is a pretty serious basketball school at the mid major level. They have been known to be a headache for Gonzaga.
Exactly. Small school that gets overlooked. So I wasn't that surprised NU lost. Good to see NU play hard last night. Great coaching job by Hoiberg. According to the announcers, Loenser is the defensive assistant!

Nate is incredibly smart, and he’s a fantastic motivator as well as a teacher. We are lucky to have him.

I'm not really sure most of them care about basketball, not like we do for football. I think they think their school is something akin to Harvard.

I guess I should pay more attention to the tourney before I talk smack about St Mary's. Anyway, did not see that win against Creighton coming.
