Nebraska Coach Bowl.

While true, I was looking for Baylor/Iowa State comparisons. At this point, ISU seems to have the advantage at quarterback, running back, and receiver. Their QB and RB are first year starters who stepped in and replaced talented players. That's an indication of player development and good coaching.

FWIW, Iowa State is ranked 74th nationally in scoring offense and second to last in the Big 12.

Baylor is ranked 16th nationally, 5th in the Big 12.

Well, Baylor should win going away, given their 69 point scoring explosion against Albany, not to mention the 20 points they racked up against that stout BYU defense.

I wonder why ISU is favored? I guess we'll find out on Saturday.

Not sure stats after three games is something to hang a hat on. There are stats that can show lots of things, for instance Aranda has gone 12-2 with a Big 12 championship and a win in the Sugar bowl his second year while Campbell's best year of six is 9-3. Lot's of variables and reasons for win loss records or individual stats, both would probably be a good hire by NU.

Trev is NOT listening to the freggin fans on who to hire as the next head coach. Anyone who even entertains that concept is deluded.
And yet if the boosters want coach "___" and throw their weight, cough money, around, Trev will go that way first and foremost. GBR

It's an interesting exercise, that's for sure. When you look at their entire body of work, Matt Campbell is 80-49 as a head coach. Aranda is 16-10. Matt Campbell has been the Big 12 Coach of the year 3 times. He also has a win in the Fiesta Bowl.

Iowa State was a dumpster fire prior to Campbell's arrival. On the other hand, Aranda took over a Baylor team that had just finished their regular season 11-1, and promptly went 2-7. They've had a good deal of recent success prior to his arrival: Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffen, top 15 finishes in 2011, 2013. 2014, 2015, and 2019.

Matt Campbell has a proven record of success. A decision to hire Aranda would be based on what we *think* he will do.

Yeah, the big question on Campbell is has he reached his personal coaching ceiling or has he reached ISU’s ceiling?

One major advantage that Aranda has though is in recruiting. He was an elite level recruiter at LSU, and he did more than just recruit TX and LA, he went all over. He also worked at Wisconsin for a number of years so he is familiar with recruiting to the Midwest.

Like I said, stats can show lots of things and arguments can be made for and against all the top 5 or more coaches mentioned. One thing we have all learned is that success at previous schools does not necessarily translate to NU. MR had multiple 9 win seasons and a 10 win season at OSU and we all know how that went, only one 9 win season at NU bookended by loosing seasons.

Your last sentence can be applied to all coaches as well.

No matter who NU hires it is a gamble and 50% or more of the fan base will not like it.

Yup. He did pretty well with the players he inherited from Dennis Erickson, and did fairly well with the players he inherited from Bo Pelini.

Okay, that was one of the good seasons at OSU. And was 4 years after he took over so that shows development of those players. Thanks for actually helping my point.
