Few years back, working on sights. Had to file the front down a tad.
It started out as a big block of wood, he used to use all hand power tools till his arthritis really kicked in. He uses an electric drill and saw to cut his brass. Makes his own brass and screws, engraves them, it’s pretty amazing.That is a piece of art.
He’s very artistic, but he was a quality control manager for a die an forge. He’s rebuilt Harley’s from nothing, repainted them everything. The detail you’d thought it just came from show room floor rather than 2-3 completely junked bikes.So your FiL clearly has a lot of experience in woodworking besides making firearms. What did he do?
Nailed it, he’s retired now though. He wasn’t always received so well when he’d have a line do everything over, but your right he wouldn’t send out parts with blemishes.I have to assume that he's amazing at his job because a QC guy with this type of artistic talent has to be a perfectionist.
