I understand that David needs to make money to keep this site up and going but these ads are probably hurting site engagement. Wish there was a better, less intrusive way for him to gain revenue.

You do not need to register if you are not going to pay the yearly fee to post. If you register please click here or log in go to "settings" then "my account" then "User Upgrades" and you can renew.

Just happened to me now on football forum 2 different Hagen Das ads that completely disrupted the page and made posts unreadable
It's a bummer for sure.
this site is becoming damn near unusable with the ads. The popups, the background ads have become ridiculous. It’s as bad as clicking on a link on X. I’d like to post screenshots of the issues but the site always says the uploads are too large

I went back to my ad blocker. I do get a pop up that asks me to drop my ad blocker that I have to close, and I do have to keeping clicking on that to close it as I move around the forum, but it does still allow me to access the site with the ad blocker on.
It's not great but it's better than no ad blocker at all, and my laptop doesn't have the long delays anymore. I've been on Max maybe 10 minutes so far, most of it here reading the now typing a reply. Right now my ad blocker is at 85 and still climbing as I type, make that 87.
I appreciate that David needs to make money to run the site. I don’t want to block ads but the amount of ads has ruined the experience. The ads I get don’t even hit the target market I am in.
The sad thing is most people naturally tune out ads so at best they are just causing friction to the overall experience.
I have quite a few sites where I've turned off the ad blocker to see the site and it's not that bad, but here it is different. Posts people make from X won't load because everything is so slow. You sit and wait for pages to change, and you can't leave Max because there is stuff going on in the background slowing my laptop down enough there is a delay trying to leave the site.
When the ads get so bad you can't enjoy the site you either quit coming back, reduce the number of times you visit the site because you know what a hassle it's going to be, or you turn your ad blocker back on. I gave it a couple weeks limiting my time here because of the hassle but decided if I was going to continue here it would be with the ad blocker in place.
I find that if you stop the page from loading (once you get to the ad load pause) the X post will load. It is pretty apparent the ads get priority over content load.
I’m not sure why, but this site is absolutely the worst of the many I visit on my iPhone. The ads placement and frequency make it unusable. Have a look at the “beauty” below just now. Please fix this site.
