MN Games

Are we locked into the #2 seed for the BIG tournament now? Or is tonight's USC/Oregon game a factor still?

Well, after missing Thursday's game due to the time change, I decided to head down this afternoon. Got there in about the 3rd inning and was thinking I should have stayed home. Man, what a finish. I don't watch a lot of baseball but I kept hearing how our team's bats can come alive at any time, and boy did they in the 9th. Seemed like we were getting movement every way possible - walks, hits, balks, and wild pitches. Great night for baseball and fun game to see in person.

Of course, Husker fans seemed to be as plentiful as Gopher fans.

Go Big Red!

Husker radio said we were. Didn't sound like there were any ifs about it.
I believe we are set for the number two seed

And everything else is basically set unless there is some hocus-pocus from the Big Ten on a possible tiebreaker

If Oregon loses to USC tomorrow, and Purdue beats Iowa…

Then they would have identical Conference records, but in a head to head Oregon won the series and in RPI and strength of schedule, It’s not even close…..

So I think it’s pretty set….

UCLA
Nebraska
USC
Oregon

Don’t discount the magical 40 win regular season…..it’s kind of a “landmark” in college baseball

That turns heads and gets a hosting committee’s attention.

A good showing in the BiG Tournament and I think we are still in the running for hosting.

Still kind of a longshot….with the current old school southern baseball thinking.

But I think we’d be in the conversation.

Having a regional in Lincoln would be highly attractive to the committee I would think.

We were a lock after the win. USC was the only team that could match our 22 wins, and we owned the tie breaker. It became a moot point after Oregon beat USC last night. Regardless of the outcome of today’s game with Minnesota, we will be in 2nd place by ourselves in the final regular season standings.

Can we hit that 40 Win plateau this year? I think we can..... GO BIG RED!!!

Holy Moly

The stuff of legend!

You just can’t count these kids out…. Ever!

“40 Win Club”
and the season isn’t even over!
I knew we could do it, although, that oSU series sucked, I still believed we could make it in the regular season..... CONGRATS HUSKERS!!! Now, keep this going through the B1G and then into the CWS!!! GO BIG RED!!!

Now 6-5

Two outs, runners on first and third

Dylan Carey up

Minnesota bringing in a new pitcher.

All of a sudden, this game is very interesting!

I wonder if they’ll walk Carey

It looked to me like they intentionally walked Moyer.

I think they’re really trying to stay away from him the best Nebraska hitters, but Jeter came through with a big single.
Darin Erstad was a star for both the Huskers and Angels. Garret Anderson recently passed away and Darin came out to Anaheim to be with the teammates of Garret back in the 2002 World Series. Darin mentioned pitcher Jamie Moyer as being one who had many struggles with Garret and won his share. Darin then mentioned that Jamie's son plays for the Huskers! I didn't know that!

The seedings are based on conference record. The Huskers are 2 games ahead of SC with only one game left! Thanks to the fantastic comeback. I had to run an errand at 6-1 and missed the whole thing! No way I thought! I went through high school with a 3rd? cousin Jere Carey, so may be related to the current Carey.
