MN Games

When I found out the game had been moved up (thanks @FBWHEEL!), I started watching on my phone, but that was after the umpiring debacle.

It was quite unfortunate that my work computer decided to have a forced re-boot and while I was waiting for that I started watching. Decided about 45 minutes later that it hung...terrible timing.
Glad I could help!

I was stuck at work and was able to tune in at 3:00 right in the heart of the ridiculous 33 minute review for possible interference with intent.

I get it the Gopher coach is looking out for his players and trying to see any angle possible but he completely altered the game in doing so. I do not think he was expecting that long of a delay and he should have come out and rescinded it if possible.

Their pitcher Selvig was ruined after that and only went four innings. Here is the thing, he is by far the ace of their staff and had 19 pro scouts in attendance yesterday. His coach did him no favors as that was an audition for the draft. I am sure they have other tape but having that many scouts in attendance and only going four innings because of a half hour delay is pretty impactful.

It also impacted Carson as he didn't make it thru five innings either. Probably the windiest game they will play all year.

Their pitcher Selvig
I was wondering about this…

Guy was good and had us in a bit of “check”…

That long blew him and them up…

They also were force into using a TON of pitchers yesterday.

Will be interesting to see how they approach today.

Wa so pleased to see Coach give Pryce Bender a chance to close an important game.

Fairly safe…5 run lead…

But he had really not done well his last few outings and yesterday was good! Threw strikes, No walks and got outs. Two men battled him at 3-2, but he didn’t cave at all.

Pryce pitched extremely well in the 9th. I think the last time he pitched was a Tuesday night game against K State when he started? It was nice where they did not have to use Caleb yesterday and more important, Unger. I doubt we see Tucker the rest of the series. He also pitched well in long relief.

We have one hit going in to the eighth thinning…

One…

I do not like the hitting approach tonight.

6K’s in a row the first two innings didn’t help…

We seem so impatient at the plate.

Maybe the scouting report on these guys is to swing away early…

But it’s absolutely not working.

That double play in the fourth really hurt us.

Bases loaded no outs, you absolutely have to score.

We jumped on a first pitch twice….. to bad results.

And especially the way, the kid was struggling throwing strikes.

Hindsight from grandstands always makes you the best Coach in the world!

Still a couple innings left….let’s hope we have an explosion soon!

Sad too, because Ty has pitched his heart out!

Jeter hits a home run…. So it’s four to one and we won’t be shut out no matter what.

So now we have two hits….

Right after Dylan swings at the very first pitch and grounds out.

Before Jeter, Mac has a 2-0 count and flies out.

I think you have adjust to the flow of a game.

Change up your strategies mid game if necessary.

If the swing early approach is not working…. I think you have to adjust.

But these kids have hit the ball well all year except for one series…
So it’s hard for me to nitpick because one night we’re just NOT making good contact.

Besides, I’m a broken down ex paratrooper and a semi successful high school coach…

What the heck do I know.

Lordy Cleavanger hits his first two batters and he’s pulled.

This is shaping up to be “not our night.”

Middle relief….sigh….

Braxton Stewart gets two out and does a good job

He’s replaced by Harrahill for the righty/lefty matchup to get the last out.

Harrowhill gets too quick strikes…

Then throws three straight balls and serves one up

Double

Now 6-1

Middle relief……sigh…

Now 6-5

Two outs, runners on first and third

Dylan Carey up

Minnesota bringing in a new pitcher.

All of a sudden, this game is very interesting!

I wonder if they’ll walk Carey

It looked to me like they intentionally walked Moyer.

I think they’re really trying to stay away from him the best Nebraska hitters, but Jeter came through with a big single.
