Rumors swirling about pending stadium renovation announcement. Maybe individual seats all the way around? Significant reduction in the stadium capacity? All seats re-positioned in terms of donor level? Anybody hearing anything? What do you think will be the impact other than lots of anger? My guess is that by decreasing stadium capacity they can afford the departure of many ticket holders.

Now more than a rumor. https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/fo...cle_60480119-34ea-53ad-87b8-eb7d6a055902.html

Yeah, I think I'm gonna be priced out of my seats in row 97 of south endzone. They will probably no longer exist, and be replaced by luxury suites. They need to be careful about pricing the average fan out of the stadium. Especially with the subpar product on the field. When you can't give away tickets you paid good money for....

All that being said, I understand the stadium needs updated

Onward and upward

My section (east balcony) was renovated during this past off-season. Seating capacity was reduced in order to convert to individual seats. All season ticket holders in that area were asked to either increase their donation level or be reseated somewhere else. I imagine that with the renovation there will be requests for increased donations in most sections throughout the stadium.

The stadium needs a complete overhaul.

Sounds like increase in pricing. How do you see that going over?

Unless there is significant improvement in the product on the field I would expect that a significant number of fans may give up their tickets. I also expect that the administration hopes that the number of fans giving up their tickets matches closely with the planned reduction in seating capacity.

It’s like politics, no one is going to be happy because whatever gets done can/will affect someone and many will be unhappy because they dislike change.

I do hope that they figure out a way to increase student engagement, attendance for the student body and improve their willingness to be an active part of the game.

Nearly half a billion dollars for stadium renovations for a team that has had only one winning season since 2015.

It also comes at a time when the sellout streak is on life support, we've dumped millions on contract buyouts, higher education costs continue to spiral higher and higher, and families are struggling with inflation.

I'm glad that the athletic department is on solid financial ground, but wow.

Most of the money comes from donors and obviously non of the school funds are touched to pay for this.

Tuition/fees are out of control for a completely different reason than inflation (I know you know this).

It will be 2 years of annoyance for some folks in/around S. stadium but reducing capacity to 80k just makes sense. Better seating for students is about 20 years overdue. Flip back seats for most of the stadium, better concourses and restrooms, are both big wins.

As long as my donation doesn't go up I don't care what they do. And yes, reducing capacity is probably a good thing, once we start winning again (which will be soon) the demand will go back up creating a lot more excitement.
