I took a side job in the 90's writing sports for a daily paper. That gave me press credentials for the games and I went down on the field for them. Im going to go away from great plays in games to 3 very innocuous plays that top list because of that experience.
#3: We were playing Kansas State and this KSU player just got lit up in the end zone a few feet away from me. He was out and had to be carted off. The impact of that hit was surreal.
#2: We were playing Michigan State in a televised opener. I was on the NU sideline. The play was coming right at me and I wanted to be in the shot and held my position until the last second. Then I ducked and the players went over the top of me.
#1: I was end the end zone for just some random kick-off. ABC at the time had these huge cameras, with cables that took people to tend to while the cameraman moved around, so it was a crew. The ball was kicked and it sailed and sailed. Right through the end zone, making a direct hit on the cameraman's nuts. He didn't even flinch and held the shot while everyone around made an audible noise for him.
Anyone watching the broadcast just saw a great shot of a kickoff without any idea of the dedication it took to get it.

And he was a Prop 48 guy who wouldn't have made it to major CFB if not for TO and our academic support program.
And the rules allowing for Prop 48 back then.
I have never understood the "He was a walk on" talk. He was a prop 48 scholarship player. That means he was academically deficient. The prop 48 status meant that he could not play his first year, but could practice. He lost that year of eligibility unless he maid a certain level of progress, which he did. If my memory is correct they figured out he was dyslexic. He was on scholarship the whole time.
The defender hit by Schellen really took himself out of the play by going airborne. Rozier easily cut inside. Simmons did a fantastic job of cutting off lateral pursuit along the line of scrimmage. Not sure that is a crack back block, but that's what I'd call it. But not in the illegal sense.
