It was an early non conf game, 98 or 99 ? crouch was not the starter, but he ran, passed and caught a td that day. Seems like a game or 2 later, he was starting.
What a game that was. Here's some not-so-trivial trivia about that photo.

A misidentified moment from the Game of the Century
This iconic photo has long been labeled as Jeff Kinney's winning TD against Oklahoma in 1971. Upon video review, it shows a different play.www.huskermax.com

The Notre Dame fans I saw were even crying on their cell phones about the Sea of Red in their beloved stadium. My son and I were at both of these games.
We were sitting amongst a bunch of very nice ND fans in South Bend and in OT when our WB came in motion back towards the line of scrimmage, I turned to one of them and said: "game over".
Crouch scored easily on option of left end, what a great game and the best away crowd I have ever been around.
It was Cory Schlessinger that scored the go ahead TD vs Miami.I was blessed to be in attendance for a few famous Nebraska plays.
- Eric Crouch's TD catch against #1 OU at Memorial Stadium
- Tommie Frazier's historic run in the Fiesta Bowl versus Florida in the NC
- Joel Mackavica's ramble for the go-ahead touchdown versus Miami in the Orange Bowl NC
I also was in attendance at Nebraska's all time beatdown in Lubbock. 10-70.

That was the only score Sayers made in the three games he played against Nebraska.Knothole section. Kansas v. Nebraska, back when Kansas was a national power. Kansas has the ball on its own 1 yard line. Pitch to Gale Sayers around the Kansas left end. Close enough that I thought we could have touched him. All the way for a touchdown and I swear Husker Freeman White was 1 step behind him the whole way. Not our TD but vivid in my memory nonetheless.
Of course. No smartphones, though.Cell phones, then?
