Actually, I’m pretty sure “they” have demanded not to be beat up on or subjected physical manifestations of anger management issues. The power differential remains.
Today’s gender neutral society might suggest that course of action but my father would disagree loudly with that.
Learn to walk away before physical alterations will happen. Whatever she did verbally or otherwise isn’t worth striking back.

My point exactly. It isn’t a never hit a girl mentality. It should be a never hit anyone. To believe that there are guys out there that need smacked around to straighten them out and ignore girls not needing it is hypocritical. Stop with the two standards. Just don’t strike anyone.
Yes they have demanded not to be beat up and society and the court system has responded appropriately. Are you in the belief that woman don’t scratch or hit men? How does society look at that? When’s the last time you saw a woman get battery against a man? What do you think the chances are this woman has slapped or hit him? It’s double standards.
I’ll add one more thing from personal experience. I was a firefighter/paramedic for close to 20 years. In the 90’s the Nebraska state law was any domestic disturbances required a separation of the two. One of them would be detained overnight. Not arrested but at a minimum detained. Not once did I see a woman detained.
We were required to transport anyone with noticeable injuries or complaints of injuries. 75% of the injured or complaints were by woman. 25% were injured guys. Not once did a policeman ride in the ambulance to detain a woman. But every time we transported a guy there was a policeman with us. Imagine being a guy with 4 fingernail scratches down your face being told that after treatment in ER you are spending the night in jail and she had no injuries.
Am I little biased. Yes. I’ve seen the system treat guys unfairly. I don’t know what happened in this case but I’m pretty sure if this male had some scratches on him from an argument she wouldn’t be facing felony charges.

I see your argument and in the anecdote below, but you are once again removing the power differential. Try removing the men/women labels. A person with clear superiority in strength and power has the greater responsibility to not misuse it. It is not a double standard because one person has the ability to cause far greater damage than the other.
Unless she is armed with a knife, gun. Shower curtain rod or something
I watch a lot of body camera videos on YouTube, battery in some states is unwanted touching. I mean I’ve seen people get arrested for battery on LEO for just slapping a cops hand. Spitting is also battery believe or not.I'm no lawyer either, but I have watched several episodes of "Cops" back in the day. I remember that in several assault or domestic violence cases the victim didn't have the option of dropping charges - the State pursued them. Gotta be true if it was on TV
Not sure what the difference is between battery and assault. But he is charged with aggravated assault right ?I also concur with whomever said the charges are independent of the parties involved if it’s domestic battery. It’s the state that presses charges

Agreed that a weapon would help equalize the power differential.
Yet didn’t exercise the strength advantage. It’s been highly reported he tried to walk away and came back to a high priced room and was locked out. When she did let him in she was taunting her$180 swim suit that he brought. How would that make an average man feel? You think there’s a chance that a 20 year old would say “**** you, I’ll take the suit back”. Scratches are guaranteed
I was spit in several times as a paramedic in domestic disputes. Fricken hated it. Never by a guy. Never seen her charged.
