Gallegos needs to understand exactly how poor he is from the 3 point line. Just because I once stuck a 200 yard 5 iron to 3 feet doesn't mean I'm a PGA tour caliber player. Simply put he SUCKS from three and probably shouldn't be allowed to take the shot. He's shooting 57% on 2 point shots. 18 assists. Ugh.

Unfortunately for Talley and NU he's no good from anywhere on the court. But since he's equally poor from 2 and 3 he might as well take ALL of his shots from 3.

Miles needs to find a way to get Rivers and Shields more involved in the offense. Particularly in a game like yesterday where they were both hot.

Sheesh...NU's % from 3 is unbelievable.

Sheesh...NU's % from 3 is unbelievable.

In some respects, you have to take some of the FG% numbers with a grain of salt. For example, Talley probably takes 3 to 4 shots a game that are forced shot-clock violation saving shots with very little chance to be successful. He is simply that go-to guy in that situation and it really hurts his FG%. But someone has to do it and there just aren't a lot of options.

Gallegos job is to shoot 3 pointers. When he gets hot, that theoretically opens things up inside. If he doesn't take those shots, we end up punting a lot. I think for the most part Gallegos has taken good shots unfortunately, he just can't make them consistently enough. Also, if Gallegos doesn't shoot 3 pointers, he really doesn't do anything else particularly well. He has been slumping as of late, (surprise, surprise against decent opponents) and his percentage has dropped. However, 33% is often seen as the cutoff point for treys, he still isn't that far off.

Hopefully Rivers can continue to progress. His 8-8 shooting the other night really helped his over all % which has been on a steady climb after a very slow start to the season. Shields is another guy that needs to keep progressing as well.

But bottom line, Miles was right after the last game . . . we simply have to have more out of Almeida. Zero points in Conference play just isn't cutting it. Of course, he did have an injury he was dealing with but still, he should be able to make something happen inside. Time for Miles to light another fire under big Andre.

Fair point on Talley if accurate. Even then his % is still horrific.

For someone who shoots the three as much as Gallegos 33% is still fairly poor. But certainly better than his current 30%. One thing I like to look at is how many FG attempts a guy take v. points scored. In 9 games RG has taken more shots than points scored. 4 for 4 in Big 10 play. Is he running the point? In 4 Big 10 games he's played all 160 minutes and has 5 assists. Ubel has 4 assist in 3 games. I know I'm beating a dead horse and somewhat preaching to the choir but the more I digest this guy's stats the more I become convinced he's statistically one of the worst players in the country. Honestly, if I was miles he wouldn't get 5 minutes a game next year when i actually had options...and he will have more options. The crazy thing is...from a statistical (%) standpoint he's having the best year of his career. Frankly, he wouldn't play at all. He probably couldn't play for UNO THIS year.

If i'm one of the struggling Big 10 teams there's no way Almedia has a chance of going off like he did against Wake Forest. If NU is going to beat me they are going to have to do something they haven't done all year...hit jump shots.

Sure...I'll pile on. Take out Gallegos' hot 2 game stretch against USC and Wake and he's shooting 24% from 3.

I find it rather amazing that the Huskers have been as close as they have against Mich and Mich St with the poor percentages. Maybe, Peltz should play more and he is not allowed to shoot inside the 3-point line:Biggrin:
