Nebraska (4-3) put together a gutsy effort in its last outing, rallying from seven points down in the final 12:39 in posting a 74-67 win over South Florida in the third-place game in the Cayman Islands Classic on Nov. 27. Haanif Cheatham capped a strong tournament performance with a career-high 26 points, while Dachon Burke Jr. added 21 points, including a pair of 3-pointers after the Bulls cut Nebraska's eight-point lead to one. The Huskers also turned in a strong defensive effort, holding USF to just 36 percent shooting in the second half.

SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH
Georgia Tech is 3-2 on the season following a 68-65 win over Bethune-Cookman on Sunday. In that game, Michael Davoe had a game-high 27 points, while James Banks III (12 points, 10 rebounds, 8 blocks) and Moses Wright (12 points, 12 rebounds) both put up double-doubles for the winners.

Georgia Tech returns its top three scorers from last season and its starting lineup from its final two games of the 2018-19 season. In all, 11 letterwinners returned and the program added a pair of transfers to the lineup. The Yellow Jackets were picked to finish 12th in the preseason ACC poll. In the first month of the season, Georgia Tech been in its share of close games, as the two losses are by a combined five points, while GT also has a one-point overtime win over North Carolina State.

No, but if we win those two stats, we win this game. I think that this team finishes with a winning record, if they can just learn to rebound. Man, after the first two games, I'd be okay with a winning record at the end of the season. GBR!!!

3 KEYS TO VICTORY

1. Keep up the 3-point shooting
After opening the year ice cold from behind the arc, Nebraska has started to heat up from 3-point range. The Huskers shot an impressive 45 percent from downtown in their three games at the Cayman Islands Classic and are now up to a much more respectable 34.2 percent on the season. Georgia Tech is a team that is going to try to slow down the tempo and keep the game in the half-court on both ends of the floor. That means NU has to be able to knock down open perimeter shots when they're there. When Nebraska can hit a few 3-pointers early, it changes the entire offense.
2. Turn up the pressure
One of Georga Tech's biggest problems so far this season has been taking care of the basketball. Coincidentally, Nebraska has done a good job of creating turnovers in a variety of ways. Dachon Burke is one of the Big Ten leaders with 1.3 steals per game and just swiped five in the loss to George Mason, but the Huskers also rank fourth in the conference in non-steal defensive turnover percentage at 11.9. The Yellow Jackets come into tonight's game ranked 321st nationally with a -4.2 turnover margin and 320th in non-steal turnover percentage (13.2). In other words, Georgia Tech is prone to making mistakes with the ball, and NU needs to make it execute under pressure.
3. Avoid James Banks
Georgia Tech has a defensive weapon that is unlike anything Nebraska has seen to this point in center James Banks. The 6-foot-10, 250-pound senior has developed into one of, if not the best shot-blocker in all of college basketball. Banks currently leads the nation with 5.2 blocks per game and just swatted eight in the Yellow Jackets' win over Bethune-Cookman on Sunday. The Huskers have to be smart with their shot selection and not try to throw up attempts in the paint when Banks is on the floor. Not only will he likely block them, but he'll also help spark transition scoring opportunities for his offense off of those deflections. He makes 3-point shooting even more important tonight, and NU must know where he is on every possession.

The Skinny: I'm on the fence about this being a good or poor matchup for Nebraska. On the good side, I think this is a team Nebraska can get to run with them and can generate points in transition or via turnover. Tech wants to drive inside and Nebraska has been effective at defending without fouling. Tech isn't a team that hunts for offensive rebounds. On the poor side, Tech has two post players with the potential to dominate this poor rebounding Nebraska squad. When Nebraska isn't in transition, which is the majority of the time, the Huskers and their poor half court offense will face off against a stingy rotating defensive team. If Nebraska isn't hitting 3s tonight, this could get UGLY.

Beating Georgia Tech isn't a lost cause as an Arkansas team with no height to speak of came in and knocked off the Yellow Jackets at home on a night where both teams had trouble scoring. More than likely though we're looking at GT clamping down defensively at points to go on runs that the Huskers will hope they can counter. The Huskers have been a roller coaster this year and it's probably one of the low points tonight in their first true road game.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 83- Nebraska 68

With Alvardao out this game and USC transfer Jordan Usher not eligible until mid-semester, GT plays only 7-8 guys and as you can see, often times that will involve two players over 6'9" and 230#.

Players to watch: Michael Devoe
The sophomore SG has been dynamite to start the season, currently leading the ACC in scoring at 23.4 points per game. While he hasn't taken a ton of 3s, he's been hitting them at an unsustainable 65% clip. Expect Devoe to continuously slash to the hole and Nebraska having a hard time stopping him.

Players to watch: James Banks
The 6'10" 250 lb senior center is blocking everything, averaging a ridiculous 5 blocks per game and unlike a lot of big men his size he's not going to come off the court for breathers or foul trouble. Nebraska will have to pick and choose their moments to attack the rim.
