Huskers Fall to Michigan at Madison Square Garden

The Nebraska men’s basketball team endured one of its worst shooting performances of the season on Friday, as the fourth-seeded Huskers were eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament following a 77-58 loss to No. 5 seed Michigan at Madison Square Garden.
Nebraska shot just 30 percent in the game, making only 16 of its 53 attempts. The Huskers’ 16 field goals tied for their fewest in any game this season, while the 58 points marked the third-fewest points for Nebraska this year. The Huskers did the bulk of their scoring at the free-throw line, converting 22 of their 27 attempts.
While Nebraska struggled with its shot, Michigan was on fire from the 3-point line to avenge a 20-point loss to the Huskers in January. The Wolverines were 11-of-23 from beyond the arc against the Huskers, after Michigan made just 4-of-18 from 3-point range in their earlier loss to Nebraska and only 3-of-19 threes in their overtime win over Iowa on Thursday.

Huskers (22-9) (13-5) (0-0), KenPom ranking #50
(thru 3/1/18); (#98 pre-season)

Next Up:

Tomorrow begins the quest for the third win of an 11 game winning streak to end the season.

I have zero doubt that Beilein has a plan to attack our switches better and will have a plan to get Wagner in favorable matchups. Beilein is a very good offensive coach. We got fresh legs but they had a day shooting on this court in a game setting.

Nebraska knows what they need to do, they know what’s at stake. If they play their best and lose I can accept that, but they have to bring it.

YUP! I wont like it if we lose, but as long as we actually show up as a team and play as a team until the final buzzer, I'll be okay with that. I think we will win the game.

I think the key for Nebraska will be getting off to a good start (sounds obvious I suppose). It's quite conceivable Michigan will start the game much more in a rhythm. And we have to avoid getting down a bunch early. Hang close in there or have a lead at halftime, and I'll feel pretty good about our chances at winning.

I'm not certain Michigan will be worn down much from today. It's tournament time. That's how it works. And Michigan can go 8 to 10-deep. They had three on their bench play 27+ minutes today.

We play Michigan, and I truly think Michigan just isn’t all that good. Barely able to take Iowa. Iowa isn’t that good!

I am afraid, you have to give Iowa a little credit (not much!! ;) ) But, if we sell Michigan short, we will "shortly" be gone!! It is not going to be easy, being on a neutral court........and, inspiring to some to be playing at MSG!!

I heard something about, some players have a hard time shooting well there for the 1st time, because of the depth of the surroundings. Well, something to that affect.
