Nebraska (7-16, 2-10 Big Ten) wraps up a stretch of three straight games against ranked opponents Tuesday evening with potentially its toughest matchup of the season. Maryland is 13-0 at home, including 6-0 in Big Ten action.

The Huskers are coming off a 96-72 loss to No. 17 Iowa on Saturday. In that game, Joe Wieskamp and Luka Garza combined for 52 points and 15 rebounds.

SCOUTING MARYLAND
Maryland comes into Tuesday's game with a 19-4 record and was ranked ninth in last week's AP and Coaches polls (new polls will come out later Monday). Maryland, which went 10-1 in non-conference play with its only loss coming to Seton Hall, dropped back-to-back games at Iowa and Wisconsin last month, but has regrouped with six straight wins, including road wins at Northwestern, Indiana and No. 20 Illinois. In all three road games, the Terrapins rallied in the second half, including 14-point deficits at Northwestern and Illinois.

Maryland is a perfect 13-0 at home this season. The Terrapins' strength has been at the defensive end, where they hold teams to 61.9 points per game on 38.3 percent shooting. Maryland has allowed more than 70 points twice since conference play resumed in early January.

This would be an upset for the ages! Although TeamRankings statistical analysis says only a 16 point loss.

The 'Skinny' (from another site. ;))

The Skinny:
A shorthanded Nebraska team rolls into #9 Maryland on Tuesday just 3 days after being taken apart by Iowa. Dachon Burke didn't make the trip due to the flu and it's questionable whether or not Haniif Cheatham will be able to play thanks to a calf injury suffered in that Iowa loss. Given Burke has started every game this season we'll see Nebraska's 6th different starting lineup tonight.

Maryland possesses one of the best defenses in the country as they've held several conference opponents to under 60 points at home. Their length and ability to guard without fouling essentially means most teams will have to beat them from 3. When you have a team like Nebraska who has trouble converting layups when no one is guarding them, expect that to be the game plan. With Burke out this might be a game where you let Jervay Green rip and and see what happens.

Offensively, the Terrapins tend to make up for their average shooting by forcing their way to the free throw line. Nebraska is generally a team that defends well without fouling but this will be paramount tonight given we're possibly down to 8 available players. Zone might be on the menu tonight and hopefully that won't result in too many back-breaking offensive rebounds.

Maryland just beat Illinois on the road and travel to play Michigan St on Saturday. How much energy are they bringing tonight vs this reeling Nebraska team?
Prediction: Maryland 84 - Nebraska 64

Players to watch: Jalen "Sticks" Smith
The lanky Sophomore Center is a formidable rim protector and is shooting lights out not only at the rim but currently shooting 47.7% from 3 in conference play. The future NBA stretch 4 is a double-double waiting to happen

Players to watch: Anthony Cowan

Cowan is the key to the Maryland offense. The senior PG leads the team in points, assists, and steals and rarely comes off the court.

So hard to watch, when the skers keep shooting blanks from 2, or even 3 pt areas. It makes you wonder how they could made any team, ! :( Their free throw percentage is gruesome, to say the least!!

I don't think anyone can add anymore bad juji to the 'Skers, so I'm going to guarantee a win in College Park! Akol Arop double double! Cam Mack triple-double!
I think we only score 22 in the first half, and then get blown out in the second half. 102 - 54 the bad guys......

SHHH! Reverse pyschology in play here.... ;)
