The Nebraska men’s basketball team erased a 14-point deficit and led No. 25 Wisconsin in the second half, but the Huskers could not overcome a cold shooting night in a 62-51 loss to the Badgers Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers made only 17 field goals and shot just 28.3 percent, both of which were season lows. The missed shots did lead to a season-high 18 offensive rebounds for the Big Red, but Nebraska was able to turn those second chances into only seven points.

Nebraska (13-8, 3-7 Big Ten) has shot below 42 percent in each contest of its four-game losing streak, a mark the Huskers failed to reach only twice in the first 17 games of the season. Isaiah Roby led the Huskers with a game-high 18 points – including 12 in the second half, and he narrowly missed a double-double by grabbing nine rebounds. James Palmer Jr. added 14 points for the Huskers, while Thomas Allen scored 10 points, matching his career high for a Big Ten Conference game. Off the bench, Thorir Thorbjarnarson scored three points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds after entering the contest with 13 career rebounds. Nebraska enjoyed a plus-eight advantage overall on the glass.

In addition to hitting only 17-of-60 shots, Nebraska was just 4-of-20 from the 3-point line. Wisconsin was 9-of-23 from beyond the arc and shot 43.6 from the field overall, making seven more field goals than the Huskers. Brad Davison led the Badgers with 14 points, including 11 in the second half. Ethan Happ and Nate Reuvers each added 10 points for Wisconsin.

The Huskers (13-7, 3-6 Big Ten) are looking to snap a three-game losing streak and are without senior forward Isaac Copeland Jr., who suffered a torn left ACL in Saturday's loss to Ohio State. Copeland was NU's second-leading scorer and rebounder. Senior Tanner Borchardt (2.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg) and freshman Brady Heiman (2.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg) will look to get extended minutes in Copeland's absence.

The Huskers feature one of the Big Ten's top performers in All-American candidate James Palmer Jr. The 6-foot-6 senior is averaging 19.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

SCOUTING WISCONSIN
The Badgers are 14-6 on the season and 6-3 in the Big Ten after winning their last three games. The Badgers are coming off a 62-46 win over Northwestern after holding Northwestern to 30 percent shooting. Brad Davidson and D'Mitrik Trice led Wisconsin with 18 points each, while Ethan Happ had 13 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists for his second triple-double of the year. Not only did Wisconsin bring back all five starters, but also regained the services of Trice and Kobe King, who missed nearly all of last season with injuries.

Happ is one of the Big Ten's top players throughout his career, as he leads Wisconsin in scoring (18.9 ppg), rebounds (10.2 rpg) and assists (5.2 apg) while also chipping in 1.3 blocks per game. The Badger backcourt of Trice (14.2 ppg, 45.7 3-pt. pct.) and Davison (10.7, 43.4 3-pt. pct.) both shoot over 40 percent from long range, while Nate Reuvers is among the Big Ten leaders in blocked shots.

-UW is playing their best hoops of the year, winning 3 straight, including a win over #5 Mich.
-UW has won 8 of the last 12 matchups with NU, and is 2-2 in Pinnacle.

-NU is probably playing as poorly as they have in 2 years

Sorry that I'll miss tonight's game due to a prior engagement.
