Decades ago tv contracts were hundreds of thousand and scholarships seemed to be great compensation. Then it became millions and the players started noticing some were getting rich on their uncompensated talent and hard work. Then it was hundreds of millions and lawyers got into the game (led by Nebraska players if you remember) for NIL concerns. Now it's billions and and the game we all (if you are 40 or over) know and love will never be the same. The only question is, what will the next tier of greed be? The schools and tv networks are already constructing something and the only thing certain is that we, the fans, won't like it.
 
Just wait until the players organize and have their first strike. It will take an event that significant to stop this runaway train. I hope the NCAA is prioritizing getting this mess under control because you can bet the schools and the tv networks are at work figuring out the next level of screwing up the sport we love in the name of commerce and capitalism. Right now there is no one saying enough is enough.

There will be bigger changes coming. Until we are able to start seeing the players as true Huskers again rather than some mercenary wearing a husker uniform fans will be looking elsewhere on Saturdays. Basketball is running a close second. Baseball isn't far behind. The women's sports will be looking to get their share too. Oh well, there is always the local NAIA team.

Or Little League and Pop Warner . . .

They haven't been offered and NIL deal yet, have they? With all of the stories on the 12-year old girl playing in the Little League World Series, I'm not certain.
 
Curious as to what happens to the high school signees that are on campus when three former nfl players return. It affects the roster numbers. Do they leave?

CFB is every team (and to a lesser extent league) for themselves. Probably easier with only 32 teams, but still. CFB is like watching petulant children who can’t see the big picture.

that's why they're all billionaires asking you to build their stadium. it never surprises me but always amazes me that people talk about player's pay - who have on average a 5 year window to cash in on their work - but not the owners and top execs raking in more and more money for years and years

They will go to court and sue just like everyone else does in college football.

Probably for breach of contract.

It took 25 years of pretty much crap football to break me amd now the last 3 or 4...I really just hardly pay attention. I'm sure I will bitch on here since I still pay

Admit it, you still love the Huskers. It’s okay to cheer for a team that no longer wins by simply showing up.
