At some point publicly uttering the comments about past culture, leadership, buy in, etc. become hollow and destructive. I'd say we've reached that point and any further comments like them need to be shelved or uttered in private.

Yeah, I don't know about that, but I think he could just leave it at 'We need to get better' or 'We need to improve' or 'We need to stop making the same mistakes' any of which would be fine and convey the proper message to the media and fan base.
You can think whatever you want as a coach and say what needs to be said to the players in private. This isn't the NFL and you don't use the media to motivate. If they're not bought in, don't let them play.

The part that is really hard to believe is that a senior mentor that Scott respects like, AD Moos or Dr Tom or even his father who played at DONU and was a coach, has not talked to Scott about this.

I don't know that they haven't, but I also don't know what's being said behind closed doors. In Frost's defense, he may have tried everything he knows and everything the group you mentioned has suggested to no avail and he's at his wits end. Publicly calling players out is very common place in the NFL and maybe he thinks/thought that was his last best chance to get something out of the group in question.

Here's the thing that gets me ...
People are upset that Scott Frost wasn't more honest about where the culture was or how bad he thought the team was going to be, but then they're upset when Frost calls out nobody in particular. To me, telling your entire team that they're likely going to suck before they ever play a game is much more damaging than calling out a nameless few that aren't doing what you expect from them anyhow.
Yeah, I don't know why people want to hear more of anything other than maybe explanations of why he or the staff did certain things in a week of practice or during a game. We all want insider info on which kids are progressing well, etc., but it ends up all being BS until they do something on the field. The rest of it is his and the staff's jobs. If you've got a culture problem, fix it, don't tell me about it.
First, this isn't the NFL, its college.
Second, if the problem is with players that are on the field then take them and sit them down.
IF it is a problem with players that are not on the field then other forms of discipline, including asking them to leave the team if necessary should be used rather than public statements in the media that do not specify who the problem is and thus divide the team "not my guys".
Third, some phrases, like that one, "not my guys" is never right to use in the media, never.

We're in complete agreement.
Yeah, there's too many interviews and they ask the same questions over and over. I don't care who is practicing well. I don't want to hear about leadership/culture. In-game decisions are about the only thing that I would be interested to hear about. They just need to start winning and then he can give bland interviews about how good the culture is, how well everybody practices, etc, etc.
Winning fixes everything. When he can spend half an interview clapping kids on the back, we'll all be happy.
He didn’t say specific names. I assume it’s a few upperclassmen.
