If Huskers win out, yes. But, it depends on whether we are tied with Michigan State for 3rd/4th or with Purdue for 4th/5th.

There is a definite path to the 2-seed. It is locked in if Huskers win out, even if Illinois and Michigan State both also win out, Nebraska wins the tie-breaker in a round-robin among the three. Even adding Purdue into the mix in a four-way tie puts Nebraska at #3. If I put in a road loss to UCLA, Huskers are still in good shape for a top 4 spot unless they end up in a two-way tie with Purdue or a three-way tie with Purdue and Illinois. Most helpful is any tie that includes Michigan State because of the head-to-head win.

NU was playing top level basketball, but they are not at that level right now.. Is it still good enough to get those coveted tournament wins? I think so, but it isn't a forgone conclusion.. unless they can get things turned around. if they do that, then I could see them making the sweet 16, or better.

They should be able to win the USC game, UCLA will be tougher and I am not saying they HAVE to win it.

I mean, I get what youre saying. We arent playing as well as we did earlier in the year. But we are 2nd in the 18 team Big10 league. Only behind the #3 team in the country. We still have yet to lose a game that we shouldnt lose. Losses are mostly top 10 teams. I dont know what you consider top notch, but its hard to argue that we arent.

I do think if we beat Duke for the National Title in March, you would find a way to say......."Glad we won. We were lucky with the way we played to pull that off. We still arent really playing as good as we should be Im glad we pulled it off"

Well, and this isn't Nebraska fault, since the Michigan loss, we have not won any quad 1 and quad 2 games.. which is because we haven't played any. The quality of opponents have dropped to quad 3 and quad 4 level... Like you said, though, we are winning those games, which is great.

but to your comment about " thats how you are".. so? Why does that continue to bother you so much? Do you expect me to post the way you want me to post? I will post and discuss what I am seeing during every game. If some of you can't handle that, then don't show up. There is no reason to continue to try and harp on the issue. I will post my way, and you will post your way.. It is that simple!

yes, I look for things to improve on, so I talk about things that are not going well. THAT is who I am.. I don't settle for second best, or lackadaisical play. That goes back to my days of playing sports. I never allowed myself to be second, even in gym class I was driven to beat everyone!

EDIT: You and whoever else can spin that to "finding the negative" all you want, if that makes you feel better.

Yeah they should be good enough to go 2-1 down the stretch here. But the outlook should be more than that. A double bye in the tourney isn't guaranteed yet. They're looking at a 3, 4 or 5 seed in the NCAA. Not only do we want our first NCAA tourney win EVER but most here believe this is a sweet 16 kind of team but not if they are the kind of team that wins by just 13 ... at home ... against a Quad 3 team!

For one thing, the Huskers were favored by 9, so what's the problem?

The 3 teams in this conference struggled the first 5 minutes,this might... and were behind big time!

It is the Big 10, folks! No one is going to lay down.

The B10 is known for defense, period!

Frankly it has nothing to do with Maryland. Nebraska has not been in sync completely … Mast hasn’t been himself since he returned, Frager still rounding into form, the flu is circulating through the team.

This isn’t the team that beat Oregon by 35 and NW by 19.

I agree that this is the B1G … no one should be a pushover but NU is theoretically a 3 or 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. 3/4 seeds win these kind of games soundly. They’re supposed to be ramping up for a deep tournament run … not playing with their food against a Quad 3 team.

Counterpoint -- Nebraska is better suited to non-Big Ten officiating and will get back in its groove after the Big Ten Tournament. I'm not saying that will happen, but seems as likely as "Nebraska is a playing like a 9 seed".

Either way, its been a historical season.

I know that, but it's encouraging that he will get better. We all believe he will. I'm just saying we are so strict. but I can understand why we don't like to lose

Nebraska basketball is 23-4, and 60% (conservative estimate) of your posts have a negative slant. I dont understand why that hurts your feelings when it gets pointed out. I get it. You're a perfectionist. Nothing wrong with that.
