Major Advantage to B1G Flex Schedule: Expansion

No doubt the TV executives want NU-OSU -- but also no doubt the Big Ten leadership works with those people to come to an agreement.

I truly don't care about "fairness" when it comes to the schedule. I've read this complaint literally hundreds of times over the past several years -- no exaggeration. I see it as whining -- because that's all it really is. Nothing has nor ever will come from Huskermax posters complaining about scheduling. Spitting into the wind.

The only thing I care about is our play on the field against whomever we are scheduled to play. I'm looking forward to better results on the field due to better coaching -- not better results on the field due to easier schedules.

Nobody is asking for an easier schedule, just a similar schedule to the people NU were contending with in the West division. If NU plays OSU every year, so be it. But Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota should as well then.
None of it matters really now that divisions are done with, but it certainly could have been an issue if NU was better the last 8 years.

And it wouldn't have changed anything in Nebraska's favor if Iowa played OSU more. Didn't matter. You are suggesting a hypothetical that was never in play for us. It's a "not fair" argument that is meaningless to me.

I could probably come up with 50 things to complain about over the past several years long before I'd complain about the schedule.

Oh I'm well aware.

Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that it was crap. NU didn't hold up their end of the bargain, and it still doesn't change the fact that it was crap.

Since the B1G went to divisions (East/West) … since 2014, Nebraska is 11-13 against the East … 9 of those 13 losses are to tOSU and Michigan. Means NU has gone 11-4 against the rest of the East.

That difference is not simple noise. Since the East-West split (2014) only two West teams have a winning conference record - Wisconsin and Iowa.

We finished second in the division twice since 2014. In 2016 we finished a game behind Wisconsin (who beat us that year in OT). We played tOSU, Indiana and Maryland that year.

The issue with NU has been we’ve been so bad that the schedule imbalance has not come into play. But had we been better it could have. Would’ve, could’ve and should’ve don’t pay the mortgage but that nevertheless doesn’t invalidate the point I’m trying to make.

As far as non conference games I have a feeling we will be seeing UTEP, New Mexico State and UCONN teams on schedule. Hope we play some Big 12 non con games going forward.

With all the extra cash these guys are getting through NIL would be nice to have 13 or 14 game schedule.
