Position “switches” from high school to college isn’t the point of 5his discussion.

How does a guy who played two-positions in high school, was recruited to college to play one of those positions and essentially played that position all throughout college count as a position switch?

Lots of guys come to college having played both sides of the ball … end up playing one of those positions.

That’s the downside of position switches … the little technique things like shotgun snaps take time.

You havent heard the which coach gets him ever? The decision is made in college, not at the recruiting level, but staff/team needs level.

Oh, brother . . . Cody Glenn was mentioned already by me. As were some others. I assume you're talking about Carriker as the "QB"? He wasn't brought to NU to play QB, so that one's a bit of a stretch.

Not sure why some of you guys are arguing against the premise so hard. Yes . . . there are guys who switch positions and are successful l(sometimes even better). But that's the exception and not the rule. I Hope this move works out, but a guy with 2 seasons missed from injury switching from TE to DL is a tall order. Not sure why people want to argue that's not the case.

It’s pretty simple why the argument is being made. The original post, and follow up support is treating this position switch as an automatic failure. We have a guy who has contributed zero so far moving to a position of need and posters ragging on him and the coaches citing “it never works”. What wasn’t working is where he was at.

So you want to use “might have been” in your every day reasoning but won’t entertain the possibility of “might be” for this position change? Just give it up and see what happens. You can criticize the decision later.
