my guess as well.. .since he would be the only one that saw him play in person -- not that it's an excuse for the others (considering nebraska was on TV every week -- and most of the time nationally).
You will notice from that list of 51 selectors on the Butkus Award that the majority of them are very close to the college scene. In fact the majority of the NFL selectors are either scouts or they have a hand in the draft process.
I can't defend their selections as I thought David would do better myself, but the majority of these people are very in touch with college football and pretty sure most of them watch much more film of all these players then most here.

For David to finish 5th means that these guys are NOT doing thier jobs. There are NOT 4 better LB in the country. Dude is an absolute animal, at this level. All those pro people on there need to vote regarding this level, not maybe what they think they will do at the next level.

That was my thought as well... something along the lines of "this guy is too small to be a linebacker in the NFL, so I don't see him as a linebacker" ... absolutely pathetic.

I would like to see L. David in that "Black & Yellow" on Sunday's. That would make me forgive that group for not giving him his award.
