Really gonna miss watching that guy. I think the fearless way he plays was a big part of why this years team took such a big step forward.

Thanks! I always heard it as Kampai! (but Kanpai is the way it's written in Hiragana (Japanese phonetic alphabet where there is no-stand alone 'm' sound ( 'm' sound is always in conjunction with a vowel i.e. 'ma'))

かんぱい (ka-n-pa-i), but n followed by p or b often become an "m" sound because of the mouth's position on the following p or b.

Kanpai in Kanji!

乾杯 - basically "to make the cup dry" (or "drink-up")
