On his way to the championship game Coach Jon Cook defeated his former assistant coaches in tournament games against Illinois and Kentucky. Additionally, former player and coach Dani Busboom Kelly qualified for the tournament bowing out to Illinois in the second round.

Current staff members Kayla Banwarth and Jaylen Reyes are regarded as rising stars in the profession, meaning there will be no shortage of successful coaches with Nebraska ties to choose from when Cook eventually retires.

True, though that's not to say Saban built up 'bama from nothing. His success was made easier by the long prior history there aswell.
