You really think some will be happy with a former badger player and coach running our D. People still swear about Alvarez a former Husker and he never played or coached against Nebraska he was just the AD

living out of state you here some of it But living here I hear a lot of it from fans who don't pay much attention and just see the headline or hear from a coworker or spouse. They confuse me at times with their theory's and the hearsay they believe

If Jim can teach defense like he played defense, I don't care what the average fan thinks, and after they see the results, they will be too giddy to complain.

IMHO, If coach wanted Butler he would have named Butler as DC. His pick could very easily be someone at the NFL or college level who are coaching a team in the hunt. In fact, I think this is likely. Easier and safer to name Butler as interim and let this all shake out. Read Jeremy's article. Most named are in key positions for teams in the hunt. It is very conceivable that HCMR and the new DC already have an agreement pending the end of the season for that team. If that person was made public now, it would be a huge distraction for that team.

That's definitely possible. But with all he's had to do the last few days reassuring recruits and current players, I'm not sure any final decision has been made.
