Jersey patch deal for NU?

I know many joke including me that Runza should be on the uniform.

Runza would not have that type of cash anyways to put towards a yearly sponsorship and doesn’t need to advertise like that on the Nebraska uniform.

Runza already is a well known institution within the state and has the exposure/brand identity amongst the people whether their is a logo on the uniform or not.

They already sell the product in the stadium which helps to keep their brand presence in front of the mind of the consumer as many fans come from around the state/region for football games.
I would SO be buying a Runza patch to put on MY jersey... So Nebraska

Looks like it is a done deal

This story sums up as well as anything how resources are going to follow population and wealth in the new system.

Wow! That's a lot of $ to leave on the table, even if it's just a few $ million.
I think their hope is that as more schools do it, the going rate is going to go up. Most places are signing multi-year deals, so you might actually earn more by waiting a year for the rate to go up. It sounds like a patch is coming in the near future. Not a fan, but most sports have moved that route.

Yeah I think there’s a bunch of patches coming. And helmet stickers, wrist bands. Every square inch of the production will ultimately be pimped out to the highest bidder.

They'll monetize everything they possibly can. All sports have moved that direction. Constantly have brands being thrown in your face.

Yes and no. You generally don't see it in professional sports. Those are businesspeople, and I assume they find these things to be deductive rather than additive. Equity and parity are closely guarded in pro sports, because the owners know full well, that's what keeps the eyeballs watching.

The state of affairs in college sports is the crab bucket phenomenon. Each program (and conference) is out for themselves, and the rest of the batch are fully against them. Not a real healthy place to be for the long game. The bullies running it all haven't clued in that they, themselves will eventually be losers, too. That's simply hubris and stupidity.

All of this pimping out of the programs will soon reach a point of significantly diminishing returns.
