Jeremiah Jones moving from wide receiver to defensive line

I've been watching football for most of my almost 60 years, and I've never seen anybody make such a move, definitely not from one directly to the other. Do any of you remember anything like this? I wish him good luck on this. I'm guessing he is just growing larger than what was expected and is in a pretty crowded wide receivers room?

If I remember right in high school he was equally good at offense and defense. So it was a matter of finding the right spot for him.

First thing Stoops did at OU was move his best athletes to defense!! I like that philosophy!

Hope it works out but patience will be needed unfortunately I'm thinking if he is not on the field a good bit this year he will be gone to the portal

His High School stats on defense are pretty impressive. I realize high school doesn't always translate, but with his build, he could turn out to be a good edge rusher. I like the move.

We're pretty thin at edge. Looking at the roster, we've only got Jones (and he might be more of a full time DE), McGahee, and Ochoa as the pass rushing specialist types. So makes sense to see if he can be another guy who can make an impact there.

Agreed. And such a drastic change. We're not talking about an o-lineman switching to d-line. Or a CB switching to WR. This is drastic. I hope the kid understands he's basically rebooting his entire college career right now, and that it will take even more time for him to ever see the field. Best of luck to him.

By comparison Pietrazak is listed as 6’5” 270lbs.

230lbs isn’t bad for a pass rushing specialist.

I am expecting Peitrazak to have a good year. He had a great year for a freshman last year.

Grant Wistrom was listed at 6’5” 230 as a freshman and had like 5 sacks.
