Jaylen Lloyd in Portal

There was a recurring theme of promising wide-outs that didn't develop to their full extent under their former under-qualified position coach and former OC. Those two coaches gets props for landing some talent, just didn't do much with it on the field. Only a couple guys shined sporadically.
I don't blame Lloyd for looking elsewhere .
The last high school WRs NU signed that really panned out were Stanley Morgan, Jordan Westerkamp, Kenny Bell, and Quincy Enunwa. I guess you could include Wandale Robinson too, but most of his college production was at Kentucky.

Barney seems well on his way to joining that group.

Would have been hard for him to crack into the top for playing time with what he have coming in. I also would not be surprised to see Bonner enter next.

Seems as though the vast majority of transfers are a result of fear of competition. Building roster depth has got to be tough nowadays.
In recent history, competition was likely one of the key motives to transfer, but I would be willing to wager most (like 90+%) are now transferring for increased NIL revenue. I'd also bet at least half are being approached with offers of more money from other schools.
For the kids that are good, but not great players, NIL is likely their only foreseeable source of a chunk payday in their lifetime.

Im surprised we didnt see either of the legacy WRs play some at the end. Smith and Clark.

Will be interesting to see where they fit in. I know it seems we need some help at WR, but we are not low on numbers IMO

I think Bonner stays. He could be a really good utility TE/FB and get at least a UDFA contract.

got to get to 105 I figured we'd see some strong talent leave skill position groups especially when we just had 2 talented WR's transfer to NU.

Can’t fault them for capitalizing on their skills. I would do the same damn thing.

WTH?! I thought he was a promising player.

Man, this is really getting old. It’s gotten very difficult to even remember who’s on the team and who isn’t. It drains a lot of the fun out of the sport. I wish someone would step in and stabilize this crazy situation.
Pure developmental guy who wasn’t seeing the field
