Jaylen Lloyd in Portal

WTH?! I thought he was a promising player.

Man, this is really getting old. It’s gotten very difficult to even remember who’s on the team and who isn’t. It drains a lot of the fun out of the sport. I wish someone would step in and stabilize this crazy situation.
Get used to it, we just brought in guys that are gonna be above him. I don't disagree with you, just saying. I'm not even going to try to figure out who's who until fall camp. We have ao many player that have to go it's not even funny.

With the talent on the team and the addition of the two portal wideouts, he opted for what was best for him at this time.
It doesn't mean Coach Rhule was pleased, but I have no doubt Coach Rhule was straight forward with Lloyd.
Best of luck Jaylen, and no way would I want HCMR's job........at this time of year.

It's hard to invest any type of emotion into the players now...

It's going to kill the sport if the transfer portal is not seriously dialed back.

Totally agree on the emotional investment as it relates to the player.
It has destroyed my ability to want to connect to anything but a positive outcome for Nebraska.
Then there are stories like Rahmir Johnson and I become reinvested.
Kinda hypocritical.

I really thought he would take off this season. Not sure what is going on behind the scenes, but I'm disappointed we won't get to see him reach his potential here.

Edit: take off meaning trajectory, not leaving

Things look really bad now with the portal but IMO this year will be the worst of it. There are roster cuts that have to be made this year for all teams so it looks like the wild west out there. It still sucks but it shouldn't get worse in years to come.

Yep, this is the fans "getting used to it phase" or my "reinforcement of the numbness phase".
It will seem normal soon enough though.
I hope

I also struggle with the "Brave New World" of NIL. It seems like player are now simply hitting the portal annually to see who will pay top dollar for the next season. No commitments to the program or teammates, just $$$s. It's like professional football only worse, at least in professional football you have a salary cap and you can lock players in with multi-year contracts. Changes need to be made across the landscape of college football, but who is going to be the enforcing body? The NCAA? Right.

I think there are a lot of loyal Husker players. I sense that Raiola was very loyal at the end of this season.

I think eventually, there will be signed, enforceable contracts.

There was a recurring theme of promising wide-outs that didn't develop to their full extent under their former under-qualified position coach and former OC. Those two coaches gets props for landing some talent, just didn't do much with it on the field. Only a couple guys shined sporadically.
I don't blame Lloyd for looking elsewhere .

Not much to show for the instate WRs we have recruited in recent years... Lloyd, Coleman, Hall, and McMorris all gone within two years.

Just an observation, not a complaint. If we can get better WRs in the portal or from out-of-state high schools, then go get them!
