why though? why is going to MI, or Troy, for that matter, better for him then just staying at Nebraska? Didn't he figure that out the first time he left? Is he leaving, or is he being replaced? i don't understand.

I have read that it was more of a culture thing. There is no guarantee that class of 2022 athletes will be eligible when the season begins, and adding someone after a summer of working to build team cohesiveness isn't ideal.

All or any of these could be issues:
- Money
- Role
- Culture

I think being the 3rd guard off the bench at Nebraska would be hard for J-mar, but that might be his role. Leonhardt, DeGourville, Essegian, Cale, and Lanier are all competing for time at Guard, and the SG starter is pretty much Sandfort. I really like Lawrence, but I don't see him being so much better than that group that you just take him and hope it works out. The whole situation kind of sucks.

The held spot was more of a courtesy in my opinion. Good guy, solid player, but we recruited some very good players, with the idea they were going to be earning, and having an opportunity for significant playing time. Fred stood by his promises, which means JL was likely told he would be paid as a depth player, likely not in the top 8 rotation.

It’s likely to be a good separation for both parties.
