Arlington Sam Houston standout senior quarterback Jamal Turner set yet another Arlington ISD record last week in the Texans' loss to Arlington Bowie. Turner rushed for more than 100 yards for the 15th consecutive game, breaking the mark of 14 set last season by then-Arlington Lamar running back Ja'Terian Douglas.
Two weeks ago, Turner set two Arlington ISD records. Turner broke the AISD record for career total offense (now with 8,952 total yards in his third year to start). That broke Christian Matthews' mark of 8,585, set from 2006 to 2008 at Arlington Bowie. Turner also set a school mark with six touchdowns in the win over Fort Worth Paschal two weeks ago, breaking the mark of five set by five players, including himself.
Turner needs only 38 rushing yards this week against Arlington Martin to overtake former Martin running back Jimmy Dixon for fifth place in Arlington ISD history in career rushing yards. Turner has 3,549 career rushing yards at Sam Houston.
I wrote last week about how Turner, who has orally committed to Nebraska, has overcome the death of his mother this season and the death of his oldest brother three years ago.
