Seriously, we all saw (or heard) the issues (4th paragraph), and these definitely need to be improved on / addressed in the off season. A lot of things that are unacceptable for a top level program.

All good things to discuss on a comment board. But calling for firing a coach who just won 2 conference tournament crowns in a row (especially when you don't have a plan to improve the situation) is just asinine.

Why is it my job to have a plan? I don’t work there. Not my job. I do know good baseball though. I played it thru JC. Love the game. I don’t have time, nor the effort to search for a replacement. The BIG sucks in baseball. If not for Oregon, USC, and UCLA, this awful league has 1 bid, the automatic. It’s a terrible, awful league. Bragging about winning this league, is kinda hilarious. I think they should dominate this league. Don’t you want to be better? The World Series is 75 miles away, in its own state, don’t you want to be a part of it? Aye aye aye aye aye.

Just because you win a weak tournament, or sneak into the NCAA’s, doesn’t mean the coach is worthy. Oklahoma softball used to suck, until they hired a young, unproven coach. 25 years later, she is still there, and they dominate the sport. New leadership can do wonders, if you choose right. Nebraska deserves better than what it’s getting. I think that’s fair.

I'm just gonna make an unsupportable guess here that if you look at the entirety of coaching hires at D1 universities in EVERY sport, the percentage of hires that meet the bolded criteria would be less than .01%. Although i will admit you make it seem much easier than that.

You have to try, right? Staying status quo NEVER wins. Winning the BIG, while nice, isn’t saying a whole lot. Nebraska hired Tom, Georgia hired Kirby, OU hired Bob Stoops. They are out there. Happens more often than your .01%. Same in baseball and basketball. You just gotta find them. Sharp dudes are everywhere, but they need discovered.
 
HIO, please give this topic a rest. Drop it. In fact, I'm requesting the mods lock this thread as it has run it's course. Of course the team, the coaching staff have things to work on. Discuss those topics, fair game. Your constant badgering trying to convince everybody it's time to fire a coach is really a drag. Especially a coach who has won the BIG tourney twice in a row and has been getting us to regionals on a fairly regular basis.
What are your qualifications, or your resume that would convince any of us that we should all agree with you? We have an athletic director who makes those kind of huge decisions.
In any sport Nebraska is involved in, firing the coach is NOT always the quick answer for everything.

After reading through a fair amount of this thread, I'm going to decline the lock request. Could get overruled on that, but I prefer a light moderating hand as much as possible.

My take is that there are no violations here, no personal attacks, and despite the dead horse having been thoroughly beat beyond recognition, this thread has performed admirably in regard to essentially staying more or less on topic. Respect.

If you don't want to read it any more, stop opening it.

If you want someone specific to stop commenting, stop putting quarters in them.

If you disagree with what they said and you posted your rebuttals, let them stand on their own merits and be at peace with that.

If there is anything critically specific anyone still has an issue with that I apparently missed, drop me a PM.

I still am not sold on Bolt. Baseball fundamentals are lacking. You all realize that E9 is the only reason Nebraska is still playing. Yes, they have caught lightening in a bottle yet again. But what about all of those midweek game heartbreaks? I am glad they won and are still playing. Let us all see how this year ends up and look at next year with a fresh set of eyes.

Excellent examples and i'm glad you brought them up. Tom was on the job for , ummm 20+ years before winning a national championship i believe. During that time he had some conference championships, but according to your standards should have been gone just because you have to try, right?

I'm glad you not only recognize the deficiencies of Bolt and SF, but also saw it years ago with TO.

Why would anyone with a brain think of running off any coach, WHO LIVES IN THE TOP 10? C’mon man, that’s just stupid. Nice try on the spin though. Nebraska baseball, isn’t in the top 50.
