The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 will feature more than 500 competitors from a record 18 participating allied nations and will be held from 20 - 27 October 2018.

The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 will be the Games in which the community embraces our wounded, injured and ill veterans and serving defence personnel and the family and friends who support them. The spirit of mateship will shine as we strive to create a sense of belonging for all, both during the Games and everyday going forward.

The word ‘Invictus’ is Latin for ‘unconquered’ and embodies the fighting spirit of our wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women. They have been tested and challenged, but they have not been overcome. They have proven that by embracing each other and the support of family and friends, they can reclaim their future. They are Invictus.

Most of us will never know the horrors of combat. Horrors so great that many servicemen and women suffer life-changing injuries, both visible and invisible, while serving their countries, while serving us.

This is Great that there is a way for those who are physically impaired still have a way to compete and participate in these events, for recovery, for rehabilitation, for self preservation. I hope this will be televised, I think it should be.

Most of us will never know the horrors of combat. Horrors so great that many servicemen and women suffer life-changing injuries, both visible and invisible, while serving their countries, while serving us. How do these men and women find the motivation to move on and not be defined by their injuries? How can we challenge perceptions and send a positive message about life beyond disability to an international audience?
The second Invictus Games took place in May 2016 in Orlando, Florida, and built on the excitement of the London Games with more than 500 competitors from 15 nations. The Invictus Games continued in 2017 in Toronto from 23 to 30 September before heading ‘down under’ to Australia in 2018.

Good story of a Lady that has participated in the Warrior Games and plans on participating in the Invictus games:

Shot 5 Times by Afghan Soldier, Navy Master Chief Refused to Quit;

"Navy Master Chief Raina Hockenberry remembers everything from that day in 2014 when an Afghan soldier shot her five times."
"Hockenberry suffered two gunshot wounds to the right leg, shattering her tibia. She was shot once in the groin and twice in the stomach."

"I lost a lot of muscle in my right leg, so from the knee down, I wear a device ... to assist with walking; it takes the pressure off my tibia," she said.

"That didn't stop her from taking up rowing, powerlifting, cycling and swimming."

Competitors from 18 nations will compete in 11 different sports with events being held across Greater Sydney, including Sydney Olympic Park and on and around the iconic Sydney Harbour.

These adaptive sports closely resemble the standard sports but with some modifications to the rules and equipment to better meet the needs of the competitors.

The gold, silver and bronze medals have been revealed for the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 presented by Jaguar Land Rover.

The medals have been skillfully produced by the Royal Australian Mint, an Official Supporter of the 2018 Games. Golden Wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem, adorns the medals giving them a distinctly Australian look.
