Incredible comeback!…. We beat USC 8-7 and one of the best pitchers in the country!

It wasn’t pretty at first…. Cooper Katskee got his first Friday start and found out that the difference between midweek competition and Big Ten, California School competition is like night and day...

Struggled…. And all of a sudden, we are down 5 to 0.

Then we started to touch up Mason, the kid from USC at about 90 pitches and got a couple runs.

Then our middle relief did its normal thing and gave up two more quickly…. And it’s 7 to 2.

But our Huskers just don’t give up…. Scored three in the eighth and two more in the seventh to tie it.

Put the pressure on USC in the bottom of the 10th and they just folded…. And we won 8 to 7!

Incredible game!

These kids just do not give up!….EVER!

Probably…but last night was just…FUN!

Here’s another weird one…I watched a boy who was a benchwarmer…literally grow 3 inches and put on 20 pounds of muscle in a year between Sophomore and Junior year…he was close to being “cut” his sophomore year.

Senior year in HS he pitched behind the strongest group of starters in our school history…went to the state finals…all 3 got Div 1 scholarships…he was the #4 and was throwing FIRE!

William and Mary took a chance on him and the kid was VERY smart…got a combined Athletic and Academic Scholarship.

Anyway…..did great at W&M…was drafted and in a game with the Washington Nationals. Had a ONE pitch win.

Came in to shut the last batter down (Lefty vs Righty) of a tie game…threw ONE pitch….catcher threw out a runner trying to steal. He was replaced next inning.

The Nats scored in the next inning and held it….one pitch WIN!
