Not sure if this will stay on the football board so mods move if necessary but, I received a job opportunity to help coach football at a camp in Massachusetts. This is a big step for me because it is my first coaching job. I have wanted to go down this path for some time but this got me to step off the ledge quit my job and pursue coaching. So I will be there for the summer and return to Lincoln and start college again :banghead:. But I know there are a few coaches and former coaches on here so I just wanted to ask what your process was to get where you are? Also if you have any tips Id appreciate it!

Also Ill be living by Pittsfield Mass. Anyone know the area? Places to check out, eat, ect.

That's exciting. Congrats and remember your Husker Ten Commandments.

1. Thou shalt have no other Osbornes before Tom.
2. Thou shalt not wear any other color but red on Saturdays.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Bobfather in vain.
4. Remember kickoff time, to keep it holy.
5. Honor thy offensive and defensive coordinator and do not question thy Pelini.
6. Thou shalt not leave the stadium early.
7. Thou shalt not jeer the visiting team.
8. Thou shalt not run gimmick offenses against thy conference neighbor. Option freely.
9. Thou shalt know all the words to Hail Varsity.
10. Thou shalt declare 1997 solely for Nebraska.

I shall tattoo them on my chest!

Congrats to you!

Just have one word for you about the future, son. Plastics. No, no, no - triple option.

Congratulations.

If coaching is your goal, this is a great stepping stone. The college coaching fraternity is a small one and getting jobs is quite often due to networking. Summer camp jobs may lead to future full-time opportunities, as we often see when examining the circuitous connections that lead to the new hires in Lincoln.

Work hard, be enthusiastic and who knows.

+1 ...working camps is a great way to meet other coaches, etc... Did that myself when I got started. Great way to pick up new techniques and philosophies.
