Statistics so early in the season can be misleading.29.hey are only giving up 8.6 points per game so far this season and have proven to be a stingy defensive team. But they are going up against a Nebraska team that has a flashy freshman quarterback and a stable of talented wide receivers to throw the ball to. Illinois' defense will be facing its largest challenge of the year so far. But so will its offense."
Illinois' Offense Will Be Facing More Than Just Nebraska's Defense

That's a great stat. We have a few others that aren't drops but are should have been caughts. Still, great progress by the WR's!Little noticed stat this year

I don't understand what games you're basing the "othe six games" onStatistics so early in the season can be misleading.
Yes Illinois is giving up only 8.6 points per game.
The opponents they've played (Eastern Illinois, Kansas and Central Michigan) in their other 6 games are averaging 29.5 points per game.
NU is giving up 6.7 points per game.
Our opponents we've played (UTEP, CU and UNI) in their other 6 games are averaging 21.3 ppg.
By that metric Illinois is/has been better. But ...
I just think 3 weeks in the season the facts and data available to draw conclusions and make projections off of them is not real reliable!
- Kansas, Illinois' premier win so far, is 1-2 and put 48 points against Lindenwood.
- Central Michigan, Illinois' win last week is also 1-2 and put up 66 against Central Connecticut
Eastern Illinois, Kansas and Central Michigan have each played two other games against non-Illinois opponents. For example Kansas has played Lindenwood and UNLV in addition to Illinois.I don't understand what games you're basing the "othe six games" on
