"Sanders and the Buffs were the biggest story in sports last year. They made waves throughout the final Pac-12 season before finishing with a 4-8 record. However, it was a giant step forward for a program that was left for dead in a conference that is about to shutter the doors forever. The second year for Sanders is on track to take CU to another level. It seems we only got a taste of what he's cooking up before he really turns up the heat. Either way, there's not another like Coach Prime and he's ready to shock the world again."
Not just one of the biggest stories in sports last year, but THE biggest story. CU made waves because Sanders went full-on narcissist after being hired. Because he acted like the Kardashians. Because he redefined the quick fix by cutting most of his inherited players and then publicly mocking them. Because he said he'd need a mirror to see college football's best coach. Because of Gus Johnson's nauseating on-the-air CP man crush during CU's early games.
CU opened with wins over bad/marginal teams before nosediving the final 2/3 of the season, and "it was a giant step forward." And in what world was anyone shocked? Sanders merely turned college football's worst team into a bad one. How, exactly, is he on track to take CU to another level with six high school recruits, his assistants abandoning him, and another group of hit-and-miss portal transfers that he again won't have the time to fully integrate into a cohesive unit before the season starts?
While I realize these sites are nothing but uncritical positive spin written by fanboys, this is mindless homerism at its worst. (Your 8th grade English paper grade: D.) When Buff fans "get a taste of what he's cooking up before he really turns up the heat," they may feel like they're eating at Denny's.
