Who is a quick turnaround specialist? I'm assuming you mean immediate.
Lance Leipold has turned around Kansas. Didn't truly happen in year one, as KU went 2-10. Then a bowl game in year two.
Heck, Kirby Smart coached his first Georgia team to 8-5 -- after they went 10-3 the year prior under Mark Richt. Then Kirby's team went 13-2 in his second season.
That's just a couple of examples -- but it's commonplace among quality coaches. Year two is oftentimes when the big leap is made.
No different for Rhule. 2-10 with his first Temple team, bowl game in year two. 1-11 in year one at Baylor, 7 wins in year two.
Turning around a team in year two is a quick turnaround, imo. Fans expecting magic in year one are completely unrealistic. I've seen posters suggesting 8 wins in year one for Rhule is attainable -- or should be attainable. Crazy town. Sure, if it happens -- great. But anyone expecting or demanding a huge change in the W-L totals in season one are out of touch with reality.
As I've said previously, I don't care about number of wins for Nebraska in 2023. I only want to see a team improving as the season progresses, and more fundamentally sound football. I'll worry about win totals in 2024.
I would like to see Casey be the #1 this season, but if the coaches are really wanting to build toward year two, Sims may be the better choice, as he should be back in '24. The starting QB competition and crowning will be very interesting this season.
