Huskers vs OO 11 AM.CDT (6/1/25)

NU needs to find a way to beat Creighton consistently. Step one. OU embarrassed us today but they are handing it to #5 NC tonight.
Baseball is crazy….

OU got hot at noon today and is carrying that forward.

My performance goals would be to beat Creighton and Omaha consistently and win more midweek games.

Better base running and bunting…..

Win more games against the four additional Big Ten schools….

And Coach keep doing what you’re doing in the Big 10 tournament

Agree! As back to back BIG champs we should perform better mid week and of course post season. I think our weak conference helps our complacency at times. Maybe that will change.

I think our weak
I don’t think the Big Ten is “weak” if you take all 305 teams in division one baseball.

I don’t think we are as good as the 3 other power 4 conferences

I also expect that to change with the addition of those four West Coast teams

At some point, we will be equal to the big 12 I think.

The SEC and ACC are another matter entirely.

So, with what you said earlier, NOT doing the things you’re mentioning here, deserves raises for all of the coaches? That’s a very hard explanation.

Again, playing in the NCAAs this weekend was house money. Little to complain about overall…here comes the “but”. Five errors and woeful offense against a 7 ERA starter after a chippy previous game against OU leaves a pretty bad taste. I get baseball is brutal, Dodgers run-ruled the Yankees just last night, after all. We play for next year, then. Let’s hope for emergence and/or arrival of go-to leadership, Sanderson, Buet, Nunez and Bollin on the position side and maybe some arrivals too. Not a Will basher, but time to grow up just a little, as the team’s comportment and futile umpiring challenges need improvement, the latter a lot. Swagger is required for any team to win, but cockiness is reserved for 65% minimum winning percentages year-in, year-out.

Anyway, too long a rant already for my opening claim. Thanks to the team for the B10 tourney title and for the camaraderie here. Glad CBob returned from injured reserve for the stretch run and to be here regularly with all you fellow optimists. To 2026 in good health to all!

GBR!

Did you watch that 18 to 2 beat down from the Dodgers to the Yankees yesterday

Probably the two best teams in baseball…..

This kind of stuff is baseball…. It’s part of the game.

It’s not excuses….. it’s just the way it is.
As a life long Dodgers fan, and that game being the first I've seen in a year or so, that was GLORIOUS!!!!

Texas eliminated by UTSA…. Color me shocked.

Number one and number two seeds in the tournament and both SEC schools eliminated by virtual nobodies who just showed up and believed and played good baseball.

Okie stays hot and beats North Carolina, but they gotta do it again tomorrow….We shall see.

Creighton eliminated by Arkansas….. no shocker there but I tip my cap to cap to Creighton for a great season.

Little Rock leading LSU…..

Baseball is crazy!…LOVE IT!

Well, another baseball season has come and gone. This season saw us struggle just about every midweek, which left a terrible taste in everyone's mouth. But, thru grit and a little luck, this group of fighters managed to win the conference's tournament championship for the 2nd year in a row.

All teams have injuries, etc., and our pitching staff had several go down because of injuries and illness, which made our pitchers having to work overtime. Unfortunately, our young pitchers had some bad outings along with some disappointing efforts from our older pitchers. Luckily, they came around, finishing much stronger down the stretch.

Turns out, they did not have enuf to continue in the Regionals. They did all they could, but they ran out of gas.

So, congrats to our Huskers by grabbing some glory at the end of the regular season.

 :HuskersN: :lilred1:

Like two additional years I would think …..barring a major meltdown.

And the bad crap does need to stop….agree.

But I kinda like the good stuff….. I want conference championships and NCAA appearances to continue.

Or, we could just be like Iowa….. win 40 games a year….. and not win a conference championship or an invite to the NCAA.

Which got me thinking….. I wonder how many of the 305 teams in NCAA baseball wish they could even sniff at what we wound up with this year.

Like 250 maybe…

I do get your point though…..

what good does that stuff do, if you never get past the first weekend? We won the tournament, and that is great, but the program has to grow past that. That can't be all we strive for.

Here is what got me thinking, while I was watching Arky.. Why can't we get there again? Van Horn proved it can be done, and it wasn't like NU was a top notch team before he got here. They were getting wins against Peru State back then.

Horn hit 40 wins in his second season AT NEBRASKA. Of course that was in the Big 12, not the Big 10.

It also got me thinking... Others on here talk about what good coach is going to want to come here. Isn't Childress considered a good coach? He left A&M to come here.

Childress is considered a good coach, but don't state that he left A&M to come to Nebraska. He was dismissed from A&M after the 2021 season
