Huskers To Hire Tyler Yelk As Safties Coach

Rhules seat isn’t warm. They can’t afford his buyout, along with Dannen, and everyone else that will have to go, should it reach that point. Dannen is a total idiot, and would need to be the first one outta there. As to the OP, let’s see it? Rhule hadn’t really shown anything as far as being an excellent game day coach. It’s quite the opposite in fact. I can’t think of one game, where excellent coaching won NU the game? Not saying it isn’t possible to turn things around, but I’ve not seen much to suggest he will either, chip or not.
Actually, one of the things that was different about this season, at least in the first several games was the ability to turn things around late in the game and pull wins. Many commented about how in prior years we definitely would have lost those games. Seems to me a fair minded person might give the coaches at least some credit for helping make that happen.

Of course the season changed when we stopped playing low and mid tier teams and were simply overmatched. Injuries also certainly played a role, one often discounted by the knowledgeable fan base. Then, inexplicably, we rolled UCLA on the road with a true freshman QB, largely attributed once again, to the level of competition. No credit to the coaches. After that, we couldn’t do anything right again for the remaining two games of the season and the bowl game. And of course, that was all coaching problems.

In my reality, every win and every loss is a balance of coaching AND playing. You really can’t have success without both at the same time.

So you believe Rhule is safe and sound if say we have 3-9 season in 26? I’ll disagree and believe his seat is already warm. So if after 4 years the end result of his head coaching at Nebraska is 3-9 or 4-8 I think there’s big trouble ahead. Can’t believe that’s going to be acceptable to people in charge at DONU. That 3-9 potential season isn’t much of a stretch imo. Hope I’m wrong but based on the past 3 years I have my doubts. What would last year season look like without EJ who’s gone?

I am beginning to question whether the "people in charge at DONU" really care or have any idea what it takes to even come close to repeating Nebraska long ago success. There have certainly been a number of misfires along the way from chancellors, to athletic directors, to coaches, and to players.

Do you? Or anyone really?

This isn't "long ago".....things are changing yearly, if not monthly.

Shouldn't the coaching staff get credit for Emmitt Johnsons performance?

Nebraska's success is ancient history. I just don't know that the university is really committed and willing to do what it might take. I regret that that will include NIL money.

I'm going to say this now and hold too it !!
All the Doom and Gloom so far this Off Season in my opinion is going to motivate this Team and especially the Coaching Staff.
I feel Matt otherwise known as Coach Rhule has had a Chip on his shoulder since the Utah game as well he should!! This is not a Kool-Aid High either its just what I'm seeing and feeling. Those last three games might just have woken Him up from his comfort place!!
I’m not a doom and gloom on this staff but confused by the see and feel comment. That is the very definition of koolaid.

It’s NOT acceptable. His tenure to date, sucks. However, a complete idiot decided to extend a coach with 5 years already remaining. Because of that, who’s gonna pay that 56 mm buyout? They don’t have that money. We won’t even get into the ‘other’ money it would take to send everyone else packing too. Hell, they are struggling now to make it work. Who’s gonna come up with the 75-80 mm to clean house? I’m all ears? So yes, I think NU is stuck with status quo, so we’ll have to hope somehow, by the grace of God, Rhule becomes a good coach. Right now, he’s a terrible gameday coach. Better hope Rhule isn’t just on cruise control waiting to be fired. That’s my biggest worry.

Dannen’s an idiot? Have you seen the rest of NU athletics. I think you should take a break from calling people stupid and idiots with your track record of being wrong.

I will never buy the overmatched BS. Ever. Keep preaching it though.

Football is KING. You want to preach about a bunch of other sports that suck money, less basketball (which he had nothing to do with)? Ok, go ahead and hang your hat on that nonsense. Even volleyball loses money. Yes, Dannen is a total idiot. Extending a .500 coach, was absolutely STUPID, dumb. The regents should have said, ahhh, hell no, we aren’t doing that. Once again, they failed. Dude had FIVE (5) years already left. Now NU is stuck. Yes, he is a total idiot. Should be shown the door immediately.

What have I been wrong about? That DR sucks? Maybe I was wrong about TJ being better right now, I’ll own that, NP. I still like the upside better. I’m glad that selfish chump is gone.

Saying you will never buy (believe) something is an honest admission that you are not open to examining reality as your mind can’t be changed. It is admitting that you ignore any evidence contrary to your pre-conceived beliefs. I tend to shy away from that sort of thinking. It causes people to draw conclusions and then stick with their claims regardless of reality.

I instead watch the tape and see one on one matchups that our players simply can’t seem to win. Doesn’t mean I always see things correctly. Sometimes I go back and watch and conclude that the o-line didn’t play as badly as it seemed live, for example. If, while watching our last three games, you don’t see a team being overmatched, I don’t know what to tell you. Just the scores alone should have been a little bit of a clue. It doesn’t mean our players don’t have talent. It just means they weren’t ready for prime time under the circumstances. It’s a young team. Throw in a true freshman QB, a cobbled o-line, and undersized defenders and things aren’t lined up well for success.
