How many DUDES we got?

Football is complex, combining all sorts of different styles, personalities, schemes, etc. There is no doubt about that. But in the end, you need Dudes that make a difference in that win/loss total. With the season on hold, I got bored and did a bit of research and obviously not full proof, I found that the amount of NFL dudes we have on a team, the better we have played. I know, that's obvious. But while star ratings are out there, the biggest thing I saw that showed how the team would perform was how many NFL players not only made the league that year, but were on the roster. First, the data.

Certified Dudes = Draft in 1st 3 Rounds / Legit Dudes = Draft / Dudes = Signed FA to a football team OR drafted after 7th round for the old-timers / Star rating was that out of HS and many got tough to find so I did best I could. / Totals section = Certified Dudes/Legit Dudes/Dudes - Total NFL Players on roster.

*I could be off a number here or there on the players on the roster that year. Yes, I even counted them if walking on because I believe having good practice competition helps a ton too. For example, some players didn't show up on an NFL roster until a year or two after graduating because they went to the European League or Canadian Football League.

*Another issue is for a time there, our offense wasn't conducive to producing an NFL QB so a guy like Frazier doesn't count as a Certified Dude, but c'mon, we know the case there.

Question: How many NFL players do we have or potentially have on our team now?

When we hit 25 or more, we are pretty dang good but we haven't had that since the 2010 season.

Further, when we have over 20, we've really only had too average seasons that being Callahan's last year and Solich's 2nd to last year.

When we hit 26 or more, it's at least a 10 win season!

We got 26 NFL Dudes on this roster?

Specials Teams:

None of now.

Linebackers:

I'd say Domann is our best player. Potential FA guy. After that, young guys like Heinrich, Reimer, Tannor, Nelson and Payne have potential but clearly a long way to go. Cooper has some size qualities as well.

1. Domann

Defensive Line:

I think Stille could be a FA guy. Daniels has NFL size. Robinson has the HS pedigree that could make it. Then bodies of Green, Thomas and Riley.

2. Stille
3. Robinson

Wide Receivers / Tight Ends:

I would have to say Wan'Dale Robinson is a guy that gets drafted. He has shown up on some way to early boards for after his JR year. Then you have Manning and a bunch of unknowns and it's really too hard to make a call on anything after him. Obviously Brown sounds like he's doing good things. Betts has potential. Warner may get a look just due to name. Stoll is a guy I could see getting a FA look and who knows of Vokolek, Rafdal and Allen.

4. Robinson

Offensive Line:

This could be a group what gets some run. Jaimes should get drafted and Farniok could as well. Benhart has the pedigree and Jurgens is already up for an award. Lots of upside youth with NFL bodies.

5. Jaimes
6. Farniok
7. Jurgens
8. Benhart

Quarterbacks

Who knows on these. Martinez was on future draft lists a year ago. He could get back there. McCaffrey has the bloodlines. I see them both getting looks somewhere.

9. Martinez
10. McCaffrey

Running Backs

Mills will likely get a FA look I would guess. The rest have upside but we've seen nothing. Scott, Thompkins, Morrison and Johnson all have potential

11. Mills

Secondary

Taylor Britt, Bootle, Dismuke and Williams all could make a run at the NFL if the step up. Not to mention Clark, Gates, etc. Lots of potential, as all young guys have.

12. Taylor-Britt
13. Bootle
14. Dismuke
15. Williams

Is there any others that can step into the fold? If not, we look like a .500 team with just 15 cats though we have won 9 games once with just 14 Dudes. If we can get to around 20, it looks that much better.

Nice work you put way more into it than I would have by far. I really think your theory has some merit
