How did the UConn coach avoid a technical foul at the end?

His player made like a 30 foot jumper to go ahead with .3 seconds left. What does the UConn coach do? He goes right up to the official and gets within a 1/2 inch of his forehead and stays there for probably a couple of seconds. That's egregious, and should have been a technical foul with a DQ and Duke shooting free throws.

And yes, I was rooting FOR UConn to win, but that was just an awful display.

Nothing to see here. The ref initiated and came in for a kiss. Hurley just want to rub noses.

Probably because the ref had some dignity and didn’t want to call a ticky tack foul after an all time historic shot to end the game.

Yep, that excuses it.....circumstances don't change whether something is right or wrong.
Well technical fouls are subjective, so yes circumstances can alter the degree to which something is perceived as right or wrong. That’s not unusual, what’s called a technical foul can often vary from game to game or moment to moment.

You’re kidding yourself if you can say you’d be satisfied if under the same circumstances Hoiberg had been t’d up after an all time epic shot like that.

Getting into the mug of an official, forehead to forehead, is an OBJECTIVE foul, not SUBJECTIVE.

Since they let this go, expect more of these types of incidents.

I didn't watch the game. I've seen the video. I don't know why Hurley would do that and I don't know why the ref wouldn't call it. Without any statements forthcoming from UConn or the NCAA, it's a bad look. It wasn't technically a headbutt, but it was physical contact and that is supposed to be a foul and should have been called, IMO.

circumstances dont matter, thats not appropriate behavior for a head coach. dont care if the punishment comes in game or after, but he should be disciplined.

I believe Hoiberg to be a better coach and person to have pulled such a stunt. Now I hope Fred doesn't prove me wrong, ever.
