And here we go…. I just saw this on ESPN five minutes ago. Doesn’t say anything about roster limits, except the judge would not agree to them….

Also says there is a new commission that will regulate and control NIL….(we shall see)

Also has cap limits, but yet says the schools do not want the players to become employees.

The whole agreement needs to be dissected because although there is a $20.5 million cap that increases yearly per school….. There is no mention of how that money can be divided at a school…

Is it an equal amount to all players on a team or is it simply bonus money for the best players?

A lot to sort out….

“The settlement approved this week will not put an end to the barrage of legal challenges. Questions about whether athletes should be considered employees and the current rules that dictate how long an athlete can play college sports remain unanswered.”

Players and their representatives court challenges in…

Yup…just a whole lot to sort out.

First, I think we’ll have to sit down and just take a look at what it all means…..and the finer points.

What EXACTLY does a 20.5 million cap mean? How is it divided and spent?

And the danger will be in how each school…or even conference…determines this.

I think the NIL Clearinghouse is just as important because I believe they have to vet all NIL deals above $600 which will/could put an end to some of the massive NIL amounts players are getting.

This is where I can see future challenges/lawsuits after the last few years with players basically getting promised amounts to play at a school without doing anything before stepping on campus.

This is assuming the NIL Clearinghouse is still in the settlement.

Agree….If…and this may be a big if…..they have the firepower and size and budget and manpower necessary to enforce…then enact penalties on a school for violations…

Color me hopeful…but skeptical

I think that’s the mechanics of what they are going to use….. but the actual governing body is called the college sports commission…

But I don’t really know as I need to really break down the actual final settlement that was agreed to.

What I don’t understand is if there are no roster limits because the judge would not agree to them….how is the football team going to approach that?

Is there an actual 105 roster limit?…. Seems from the article there isn’t….. and I don’t see how the Big Ten could say there is if it’s not in the settlement

lawsuits incoming. cant restrict a person not a party to a lawsuit. only laws can determine that or a union binding contract....

Yes….

I think there will be LOTS of lawsuits coming up….

Between this and all the lawsuits flying left and right up in Washington…

I wonder why I was just a stupid grunt soldier instead of a lawyer…. They seem to be getting all the business lately..
